Akebono upgrade on FX35

Whats up everyone, I really need your guys advice about my brakes.

I have owned this vehicle for over 3 years, replaced the brakes twice and now again for the third time, faced with replacing pads/resurface rotors due to squeaky brakes. The dealer charges me about $800 every time and always states that the rotors are still good. At this point, I feel that the stock set up is crap and I am throwing money away by just replacing the pads/resurface rotors until next year when the problem arises again.

I am consider upgrading to the Akebonos but have concerns due to stock wheel size being 18".

Questions I have:

If I decide to upgrade, what will I need to purchase in order for the stock wheels to fit properly with Akebonos?

Generally, how often do you replace your brake pads with Akebonos? or stock brakes?

Have any other members experienced the same issue I am having with stock brakes and if so, what did you do regarding this issue?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if those stock 18"s will fit, some do. Nothing you can do to make wheels fit the brakes short of grinding the caliper. If it were an issue of spoke clearance, spacers would fix it but with 18"s the caliper might just be too big. Before you do anything, how do you know you actually have an issue with the brakes? Brakes squeal/squeak all the time. Usually greasing the back of the pads when installing fixes this. Are your pads actually wearing out? Or is the dealer just making an easy $800 annually by telling you this. FWIW, $800 is ridiculous for the work they're doing. I can swap pads in all 4 brakes in ~1hr (less on a lift) and I'm not that fast.

I would be very surprised if you were wearing out brake pads every year unless you're driving 50K per year or something.

I have Akebonos on my FX. Yes, you will need at least 15mm spacers to clear the front brakes on OEM 18" wheels. For the rear, you don't need spacers.
I do 95% highways. I had like 80k on the fronts and 40k on the rears stock brakes before I changed them to Akebonos (stock brakes still had more than half of life left). I'm now nearing 40k again, and pads and rotors for the Akebonos still have lots of life left.

Not sure why you need annual pad changes... unless you do like 50k city driving a year.

"I have owned this vehicle for over 3 years, replaced the brakes twice and now again for the third time"
WTF are you doing with your vehicle, tracking it?

Does anyone know the part numbers to change your akebono brake pads and rotors? Have to do my brakes soon

by now the akebono brake calipers (under $80 ea), rotors (under $70 ea) and aftermarket pads (your choice) are cheap and plentyful at your local autoparts dealers. just call or walk in there, give them the g37 sport model, walk out with the goods with core charge and try test fitting them before you commit. if you decided to keep them then just bring the stock ones back as cores.

Sorry to revive an old tread so stock 18s on my fx35 2011 will the fx50 Akebono big brakes fit if I use 15mm spacers
Can anybody confirm this thanks please
