Nice. I have the DR-500 myself. Had it for like a year now with no problems.

I was kinda sad that the 550 came out like 1 month after I got my camera, the 2 channel system would have been awesome.

Maybe one day I will upgrade...

Is this to document any and all illegal activity so that, when the popo pulls you over, they confiscate it and use it against you in a court of law?

It's really simple, when something happens if the video helps you, forward onto the appropriate parties (insurance, police, etc.)

If the video is detrimental to your case, you just keep your mouth shut about it (or it wasn't recording).
