Hello People,
I've got a steering wheel leather wrap for my FX, planning to receive it in couple of days.
In order to make it right way, I want to remove an Airbag cover so I can do a proper stitching to achieve an OEM look.
As far as I know you removal process is pretty easy, two bolts (one from left, one from right) then airbag cover should simply pop-out.

Question:
Do I need to disconnect my battery to make sure that nothing will happen with Airbag?
I don't plan to disconnect Airbag, I simply need some extra space so I can do proper stitching.

It's not a problem to disconnect the battery, but I'm afraid that I'll loose my seats/radio and etc settings.

Thank you

I have remove the airbag on the 1st Gen without disconnecting the battery. If you go by the book, the FSM tells you to disconnect the battery. It not that easy to deploy the airbag.

If you're not pulling connectors, it's not a big deal. You're just moving it, you're not doing any wiring to it.

Yeah, I don't plan to disconnect any connectors I just need an extra space for cosmetic purposes, so I believe I'll give it a shot without disconnecting the battery.
This is what I plan to achieve (with black stitching instead of red)

Yeah, I would just put something under the airbag to have it seat up and away from the spokes for easier access around the spokes. Pretty sure the two screws are T30 security torx bit. Hope it not too too tight. I have run into a couple that I rounded out the star on the screw.
