General Information

Hours:Saturday, August 29th, 2009
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission:$1.00
Location:Big Bear City Airport
501 W. Valley Blvd.
Big Bear City, Ca. 92314
Big Bear City Airport (L35) asks that you save the date of August 29th as the 2009 “Wings Over Big Bear” Air Fair soars into the San Bernardino Mountains. This year’s theme “Serving Our Community” highlights the value and benefits that our airport provides to Big Bear’s residents and valley visitors.
Gates open at 7AM with a pancake breakfast prepared by Big Bear Kiwanis. The show starts two hours later with a spectacular high altitude entrance by the Just in Time Skydivers and an emotional marching musical presentation by Lake Arrowhead’s Fife and Drum Corp.
“Wings Over Big Bear” brings with it more than a dozen of the aircraft which secured our Nation’s independence in earlier years. Two World War II vintage B-25 Mitchell Bombers, a carrier capable F4U Corsair, the 420 MPH P38 Lightning, the very recognizable P-51 Mustang long range fighter, a 1000+ horsepower P-40 Warhawk and a Douglas Dauntless Navy dive bomber arrive straight out of the 1940’s to grace our airspace. These aircraft will be accompanied on the display ramp by a Vietnam era Douglas A-1 Skyraider and an assortment of T-34 propeller and T-38 jet training aircraft. Guests should find the 1930’s designed twin engine C-45 Expeditor, also known as the Beechcraft Model 18, an exciting new addition to the display.
Fly-Ins are welcomed and enthusiastically encouraged to participate in the spot landing competition upon arrival. Parking will be available on the ramp south of the runway and east of the terminal. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories for aircraft wishing to be reviewed by our panel of judges.
Consistent with the vintage aircraft on display, the Air Fair 1940’s admission price of just $1 should encourage visitors to come and enjoy the many food and souvenir vendors and community group exhibits. And for the first time, we are excited to have the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile!

Sounds like fun.
I was at the Camarillo outlet on Sunday, & they had the coolest WWII hardware in the sky. Jap, US & Nazi. Fighter Formations, big bombers, all flying low & high . .with special effect smoke too. It was cool to see those things up close, & they were minty. Loud and burbly like big muscle car days.

Great!! The wifey and I are still debating if we're coming up this weekend. Nice to have something more to do up there.

Yea it's pretty cool my I was working at Chino Airport a couple of weeks ago cctving some pipelines and saw allot of the old planes being restored.
Big Bear Airport is a short walk from my house so if anyone comes up you can park here and we could throw back a couple of brews and wander over to the show.

Probably gonna be some of the same planes that I saw on Sunday. If so, it's worth going to see

Thia is what I saw: http://www.wingsovercamarillo.com/

Had no idea it was going to happen, & we were there at the exact time of the show

My favs were the Grumman F7F Tigercat, P38's & the C-53 (that thing is such a beast. Med sized bomber that sounds so eerie as it fly's over slowly. Sounds like death is coming)
