Air Runner Suspension

This might be a question for turbo cad...my friend has a set of air runners that came off the 1st gen FX35 and i was wanting to put it in my 2nd gen but i'm curious as to how much modification and fabrication i'll need to install it since the 2nd gens don't have macphreson struts?

not going to work at all, your suspension is completely different, like a totally different car really, not even close.

air suspension should be much easier to do in a second gen than it was in the first. you don't need a air runner strut or any kind of bag over strut design, the upper & lower control arm of the second gen mean that you can use a more conventional standard bag type setup. still going to need to fab up bag mounts & shock mounts but not as hard to fabricate as the McPherson airstrut of a first gen was. don't think anything is going to just be bolt on

thank you turbo cad! thats what i figured the suspension set up would be extremely different. theres a few kits made for the 2nd gen already so I'll have to see how that works out, still not sure how bad the ride quality will be so I'm really leaning towards coils instead but no one makes those and we can't find anyone to do a camber adjustment either...=/

air isn't going to do anything to help with alignment issues, that's for sure

ride quality is tricky with bags because most times while at a reasonably low ride height it'll be very soft & bottom out easily, and at raised most way up it'll then ride nice because the bags will have a much stiffer effective spring rate like a sport spring would, but at that point it'll look way to tall in most cases, it's very tough to get a stiff enough ride at a low enough height. in the middle it will ride ok but softer, which also allows more body roll & sway, so in the end you'll sacrifice handling & ride for stance... depends what your priorities are really... coils would be better from a performance point of view

ahhh, yeah that would make sense. I think I would geared towards more of the performance side rather than stance, the idea of air suspension is very neat where you can raise and lower at your disposal but I don't want to sacrifice ride quality when low. I wish someone would make coils for the 2nd gen already, i only want to lower another inch and a half to two inches.

Coils are available for 2nd gen. Company ABC or something.

How much for the bag setup? :)

I don't understand why tokico or other aftermarket companies haven't put out an adjustable tuned shock for lowering springs? infinitiscene has enough members that would be interested in a tuned shock. the kyb's just don't do it, and not every one want coilovers.

I actually took a look at the KSport coils but I was very sketch about them due to the fact that I had them on my previous car and they were nothing but problems. For $1200, I don't see that much worth in the quality build of KSports, maybe if it was a little more price competitive.

I didn't know platinum VIP had bag less air suspensions, i'll definitely have to look into that...
