Anyone got the balls to run this kit?

I just bought the kit for another car, but not sure if I want to invest so much into the FX. Pretty sick tho. It may not be an option for the "sporty" guys, but for the "cruisers" it's an absolute sick option.

If you don't know, Air Runner is a Japanese based company that's one of the best in air bag suspension systems. They use Firestone bags and KYB struts.

The air runner set up does look to be a complete package. The kit the offer replaces the shocks/struts and springs while the universal air replaces just the springs. Pretty sure the shocks/springs also have dampening adjustment too. They use thinner air lines which is good and bad.

My kit overall cost more than the out of the box air runner kit cause of my aftermarket shocks/struts and adding the dakota digital control system (which can be added to the air runner). Air runner tank is steel vs stainless, air runner may be running either 1 or 2 compressors while universal runs 2 Viair compressors which are mated to the tank really well.

The vip guys I know with air runner say the ride is really smooth though.

I have Universal Air on my G and I love it. I think the remote control was a bit too pricey, so I just got it with the 9 switchbox..I have the digital gage . I might be taking the system off my G and add it to the FX later ...If you have the right tools and know how it would be even cool to install this system yourself. Just my .02 worth.

Pro's
It is nice on my G because I can lift it up for driveways and speed bumps. I can lower it at will and that is nice also. It handles fine. I'm using stock shocks. I drive the car hard and it handles fine. I can move in and out of lanes and not be afraid that it's going to veer out of control

Cons
Hitting the switches sometimes is a fun ordeal. I have had a bag roll on the swtich control and let the air out of the bags
It can get bouncey at a few settings
Alignment is set for certain air pressure and to go above it or below it can use up tires..
Noise when the compressors are on (after using the air to raise the car)
Place for the equipment I put the compressors under the car above the mufflers. The air tank is in my trunk. I have a 5 gallon tank.

The stainless tank leaked air. I have a regular steel tank right now. Waiting for the new ones to come in..
Should have added a drain hole for water build up(water does not compress)

I've considered air suspension too, but for a daily driver I think something like the Dakota digital control system with both pressure & height sensors is the way to go, almost a must to me. then finding space for all the components is a challenge in something like the fx with not much free space to begin with, especially the tank. woulda been nice if they went to 3/8" instead of 1/4" which can be a bit slow.

the strut assemblies look really great with this kit, would be awesome if they did 3/8" inlets & sold just the struts & rear bellows... then it also comes down to at what pressure ride height actually winds up... that's determined in the design... if these are designed well then at a good ride height the spring rate would be correct & they could be a great ride, so many "kits" out there are designed poorly though in there geometry that they either require too much or 2 little pressure at an ideal ride height & then ride quality goes out the window... that's the drawback to cobbling a system togeather... these look like they may be designed well, then it may be worth considering.... big $$$ though by the time you start adding electronic control to it

maintenance isn't so bad if you use a good compressor & a good air system design with a water separator with a self bleeder & have the compressor far enough from the separator that the air is already cooled by the time it enters the separator... if the seperator is being fed very hot air straight from the compressor then moisture will still accumulate past the separator kinda defeating it's purpose. install itself is a big determining factor in how good or bad a system like this will treat you. Ideally the compressor should be mounted far from the tank with a copper line in the long run to the separator before the tank to keep the system clean... water will always accumulate from a compressed air system & will cause problems if not dealt with correctly, having the compressor right next to the tank is not the best way to really deal with the condensation & can cause problems long term with sticking valves, rust in the tank & even the bags deteriorating from the inside from the moisture. most car installs put the seperator after the tank cause of this but then the tank don't stay clean... ss helps here... the air system design/install is as important as the bag setup itself. this kit does look pretty good though...

on our fire trucks we put the valve on the tank itself and bleed them daily...I'm thinking about doing the same with the G's tank..

yeah drawbacks system is that it does use 1/4" hosing and steel tank. But there are also pros and cons to that (hosing), since it is manual...unless you want to fork out another $2000 for the digital option.

as mentioned, build of the struts and bags are top notch.
