Yesterday I opened my hood in 1 month and I found out my air filter was covered with full of dirt:neutral:.. Anyone with a stillen intakes, how do you clean your filters?? do you unbolt the filter and air blow them or just air blow them without taking them apart??

Dont air blow it at all
Take the entire assembly apart, ioncluding unbolting from the Venturi ring. Shake out dirt or large stuff. Spray on the K&N cleaner solution. Let it soak in for like 10-15. scrub it with an old toothbrush. Rinse out under cold, low pressure water, from the inside out. Air dry (should take 24, maybe more) re-oil & you're good to go.

Also, some dirt is not actually a bad thing. They say, that the dirt will help in filtration, but that's a call for you to make as to how bad it is.

Damn.. I didn't know cleaning your filter was that complicated.:squigglemouth:When you say re-oil, what oil do you mean?thanks for help

K&Ns come pre-oiled from the factory. That's what traps the dirt. The cotton fiber is not "tight" enough to filter dirt without the oil. When you use the cleaner solution, all the dirt is removed, including the oil. The filter should look mostly white after the rinse. They you need to re-oil it. The oil is red. K&N sells something they call a re-charge kit & comes with cleaner & oil. I prefer the squirt bottle vs. the spray can. Less messy & more control, cuz you do not want to over oil. Too much oil can damage your MAF sensor. It's really not a big deal to do all this. Once you do it a couple times, you'll get a technique for laying down the oil on the pleats.
