just did this on my FX. save yourself the headache and get the OEM Infiniti harness. Plugs into a few sockets underneath your spare compartment. Its a real pain to get to but not dicing and splicing.

^ I read this as the wiring harness wire not control an alternate trailer brake system. (Such as a separately installed braking system specifically for the trailer alone and not the vehicle brakes). My OEM harness controls my vehicles OEM brake lights through the factory wiring and system.

The OEM harness plugs into 2 ports in the back left corner of the trunk pan. The wires follow the path around the front of the spare tire and back to the rear of the trunk via the right side. In the right rear corner is a pass thru plug that seals with an included rubber grommet. Once outside the vehicle compartment, the wires travel from the right side of the hitch and mount on the left center.

Exactly! No issues with the brake lights for me.

The link above is all I could find on EBAY as far as the harness goes, but check out the description as it says it will not work with the brake lights?

It controls the trailer brake lights. I have this harness. I think it means it will not control the actual brakes if your trailer has them.

yup! i actually use mine for a small 13' boston whaler. works like a charm, just make sure the harness matches what you have on your trailer
