AeroBFA's Autumn Copper FX45 :: 2007 Infiniti FX45

Over at Handy Andy's place again last night. We swapped out the OEM projector lenses for The Retrofit Source TSX-R clear lenses. The clarity is amazing, had no idea how foggy and distorted the OEM lenses are until they are side by side. The cutoff line is much sharper and the overall light and color output is much more intense, even using Morimoto 6000K bulbs. The light output spreads out to the side and front much more than before. Not sure if I have that color flicker that most of us want to go for. Have to let someone drive it one night and see for myself.

Looks good Andrew. Your new car is coming together nicely. Looking at those pics it reminds me that I've got to paint my HL one day; maybe during a spring install meet.

Looks good. Can you include the link to where you bought it from (I know it's retrofit source, but direct me to the right size/type) thanks

You should! Painting them dark makes a very large visual impact on the car.

Maybe a silly question, but how do I actually know if I have pre- or post-recall headlights?

If you've been to the dealership (infiniti), you most likely have post-recall. I think they were required to swap them unless you specifically told them not to.

Hard to tell unless you open them up, they have different "seats" for the lenses, hence two different kinds.

Nice!

Pictures of cutoff?:top:

Here are some pics. I really like the color output. It's more of a pure white and there's not much blue in it at all. The earlier pic I posted looks bluer than it really is and matches my white LED license plate lights in the back. Also, the headlights do flicker now. As you walk around and crouch in front of the car, you can see the color shifting and flickering to oncoming traffic when driving. It never did this with the same bulbs and cloudy lens before the swap.

Those wheels are so sick bro, if you don't mind me asking, how much you pay 4 those?

Thanks, man I love them. They are three piece forged with staggered lips. Pricing for wheels like this go into HRE and iForged territory, but these start at $1000 per rim. Pricey, but justifiable to me because its the exact look and setup I wanted.

do you need these? 2x Spacer rings to install behind the lens for a proper focus (only if requested)

I didn't get or use any spacer rings for the lens. We just removed the retaining ring to hold the lens to the projector and it was just a simple swap.
