Hai everyone. I have an '03 35 with 45K miles now and I'm about to call the dealer to setup service and would like to know your guys opinion on how to handle this. About a month ago i went to the dealer for the TSB on the seat creak. Since it was out of warranty the serivce advisor said he couldnt do anything about it now, but was aware of the bulletin on the seats. He told me if I had the infiniti extended warranty, it would be covered with no problem. (should fix it no questions asked imo) I ended up buying one for 4 years/48000 miles, not just for the seat, but I wanted it in general. The advisor was a really nice guy, told me hed take care of my situation. After the purchase went through, he told me to wait a few weeks, then come back to the dealer just to be safe.

Ok so now its that time and ive done a lot more research since then and now I have more issues that should be handled. In addition to the seat creak, I have the faulty fuel gauge, bubbling dash, faded window trim and just recently the rear wheel bearing(s) are going bad. I just plan on going in for an oil change, wheel bearings and seat fixed. Should I just get everything fixed at once? I dont want them to say something like, "the car had those issues prior to your warranty" or they were "preexisting issues" and they wont cover the fix. I was just thinking of getting them fixed over the next few months.

My biggest concern is about the wheel bearings. Will they be covered under warranty? I also have an 06 VW Passat and the bearings went out about three months ago with 34K miles and they covered it no problem. Would love your guys advice or input to my situation.I dont want to say anything stupid at the dealer. Thanks! :.smile:

just get it all done at once. you shouldnt "feel" bad for using the warranty you paid for.

wheel bearings are fairly inexpensive. and should be covered.

let us know how it turns out.

Also you will be driving a nice Infiniti loaner until they finish your FX!

Wheel bearings are a warranty item. If you want to be ballsy, ask them for proof it was a pre-existing condition if they pull that.

Everything just mentioned is under warranty.. Wheel bearings is under powertrain warranty so you are good to go.. I recently got that done on my fx..

So Im dropping my car off later this afternoon after work and when I called to schedule it, the service advisor said that the dash may not be covered, because its a wear and tear issue. He is aware of the bubbling dash issue too. I didnt want to argue over the phone so I told him to look at it when I went in and well determine the status from there. I could not find an actual tsb about it either. Read some older posts about bubbling dash too, so got lucky and some didnt about getting it replaced with no hassle.
The same may go for the faded window trim on the outside. Not sure if theyll give me problems about that either. Just short of calling consumer affairs, is there anything I can do or say to the advisor while Im there to work it in my favor?

you should read what is in your warranty manual, and also from extended contract booklet on covered items. When I worked in a dealership, no job was warranty until verified. I would acknowledge the problem, but let the customer be aware of a potential diagnostic charge if it is not a warrantable item. This technique weeded out 99% of the 'unusual' complaints, at times customers screamed at me, saying I'm calling NNA CA in regards to your 'trying to rip me off' but in the end a service dept covers themselves if the item was due to 'outside influences' or simply gross negligence or poor treatment of a vehicle.
Speak to the advisor in person, and if need to get a service manager involved do so, not much can be done even if CA were to get involved. If it were a 'safety' issue then it becomes a different ball game... most of the time NNA would 'do the right thing...'
