Adjusting Headlight Level

I am curious if any one knows if you can manually adjust the level on the Gen2 FX like you could on the Gen 1. I had an 07 and was ale to adjust the level from under the hood and then do small adjustments from the dial. If you can still do this can someone show me where the screw hole is for the adjustment. I did a search and did not find anything specific. Thanks.

What year? I have a 2011 and if I'm not mistaken that would be the dial by the driver's left side, right beside the folding mirror button and under the lift gate button.

Its a 2012. i know about the dial but was looking for the manual adjustment to the headlight housing. This was I can raise the headlights above the preset setting.

Raising it higher than the max setting on the dial would literally blind people in other cars.. Why?

I drive on some pretty dark roads at night with not many people on them. It would be nice to be able to raise them without using the high beams.

I'm not sure about your headlights, but I have the auto leveling adaptive headlights and I know that in order to manually adjust them you need the Nissan Consult III computer the dealer uses to to adjust them to a different height instead of the computer automatically adjusting them. Atleast that's what the factory service manual I have says.

I do not have the auto leveling option on my FX. I know there is a way to adjust them but dont want to screw it up. Fire - Do you have an electronic copy of the service manual I could review?

The headlights can be adjusted.

I was told by my local dealership that the headlights can not be adjusted. Skeptical, I decided to check for myself - they can - it's easy. Along both sides of the engine compartment the FX has a rubber boot that attaches to the frame. Lift it off the frame about an inch and you'll see that it attaches in several different places. You'll need to separate the boot from the first 2 or 3 attachments to get to the headlight. The first attachment (one closest to the headlight) is a plastic clip (sometimes referred to as a Christmas tree clip) that you'll need to remove from the frame (with the boot attached) because it goes through a hole in the boot, and if you try to remove the boot from the clip you'll probably tear it. The second and third attachments have a "U" shaped channel in the rubber that slide under the head of the plastic clip, and they can be removed simply by sliding the boot away from the clip.

Once you've separated the boot from the frame you'll be able to easily view, and access, the headlight. At the top of the black plastic headlight assembly you'll see a hole a little larger in diameter than a pencil eraser. Inside the hole you'll see a white gear, and 1 or 2 of the cogs should be visible through the hole. This is where you adjust the headlights. Take a small blade screwdriver and move the cogs toward the outside of the car to raise the headlight. Re-attach the boot, and you're done. It will take you less than 10 minutes to complete both lights.

I'm not a mechanic, but I play one on TV.

Good post. I realize that u dont really have to remove anything at all. On my 09 fx theres already a a cutout on the panel for asjustment. Its labeled 10% or something. Use a flashlight and you can do the same without removing any panel. Thanks for the original advise.
