Hello all, I hope you can help! I have looked all over the forum and allot of the post are older and I'm sure tech has changed quite a bit so I pose the following with hopes someone can offer a definitive answer.

I have a 2008 35 with a stock head unit with nav and sat, I also have the installed ipod connect in the glovebox which I assume is factory. (I bought the car used from dealer) anyway, the iPod connector is for the 1st gen iPhone and now I have an iPhone 5 which obviously has the lightning adapter. I have purchased a few converter plugs which really don't work and I'm fed up with apples proprietary iTunes, iPhone bullshit! I want to be able to load a flash drive from whatever source I like!

Here is what I would like to do if possible????
I would like to have just a plain old USB female jack to use whatever I would like, iPhone, iPod, jumpdrive ect. I could care less about the sat radio as I don't have or want it anyway.

(1) Are there any adapters that any of you know about that will allow this to work? Please offer any options you may know of with links to purchase and the pros and cons of doing so? IE, loosing steering wheel function, sound quality, etc.

Please be as detailed as possible, thanks in advance!

I added an RCA-3.5mm cable to my USA-Spec Ipod Integration Kit and use that to stream music from my phone and other people's phones on roadtrips.

So if i don't use any iproducts but i use my samsung galaxy phone, i can use the Grom to play music through my phone to come through my stereo

Not sure if your year version has the casette deck, but if it does, you can get the Philips Casette adapter with the 3.5mm plug attached to it and plug it up to your phone, or whatever you wish. It sounds great. It's about $15.

plus one, ive been using this since 04

Did the 08 have factory iphone option? I thought only 2nd gen had that. Some versions I think had a CF card reader behind a little door as well.
If its not factory, I would look in and see what the current setup you have is. It may have other options, either to connect a lightning cable directly, or some other inputs. As far as I know only i devices have the steering wheel/radio control interface. Android has too many variations that make it too complex.

I did the USA spec with the old ipod connector, and it has an aux in as well.
I had planned to do the DICE mediabridge, but based on others reviews It seems the sound quality is sub par especially on BT.

I have an 08 with the tech package, meaning, bluetooth, sat, and I pod cable in the glovebox. I realize there are a few options, my question is which one is th best? As you stated the sound quality is lacking.

If someone else knows better on the 08, I have an 06 with the tech, and there wasn't a factory iPod as far as I know. I thought the unit was the same from 06 to 08? That's why I was guessing you might already have an after market setup.
Do you get song info on screen? What mode are you in when hooked into the iPod?
The sound from the USA spec iPod link is fine, and I think it was one of the older addons, but no bt streaming, just iPod and aux.

Yes, I get the display on the screen, but again it's just the iPod connection and sound quality is good. From what I have found it was an aftermarket/dealer add on you could buy and you or they could install, and just like you, no Bluetooth.
