Okay guys, heres one for the brain. So of course our fx's have a knock sensor to sense any knock (potentially due to using lower than recommended octane rated fuel). If and when knock is sensed, the ecu pulls timing to stop the knock and prevent any engine damage. The question I have is how much functionality and/or ability does the ecu in our vehicles have to go the other way? For example, if running higher octane fuel (say 94), will the ecu allow timing advance until it senses knock and then pull it back accordingly?

The reason why I ask is because if you read the manual it says to use "a minimum of 91 octane fuel" leaving me to believe that there could be some benefit to using 92, 93 or 94.

What are your thoughts?
