I remember a 45 turbo years back, will do some searching. I don't think they got it running right though.

Hey man careful, an amps worst enemy is vibration, (this is why JL amps are so great, because they insulate the amps to avoid vibration from standalone placement elsewhere in the car,) but if those subs bump like they look like they do, its probably not a smart idea to have the amp bolted up there. I know im a total noob on here and i dont even have my FX yet, but over at diycaraudio and caraudioforums there were many warnings like this from mods. Looks sweet as hell though man

haha the good job.. i cant tell. sarcasm? haha and thanks I will. btw your youtube videos and cardomain started my whole thing with these beasts man.. already got a vision haha

so any word on whether you should put an amp on the sub box?

im just kind of curious because im going to do an install eventually myself

if the box is really built right for the speakers in them then the panel that the amp is mounted to shouldn't vibrate any more than anything else around the sub would vibrate, speaker enclosure walls are not supposed to vibrate, that'd be a pretty crappy enclosure  if it is a solid enclosure & solidly mounted then it's not so bad, if it's an off the shelf particle board genric box run with a lot of power then maybe better not to though. also an amp cools best when mounted flat with it's heat sink facing up, sometimes in a tight spot on the side of a box is a chance to add overheating stresses if the amp is run hard too.

^+1 You beat me to it!

Another thing is that the manufacturers of these amps know exactly what they are used for and design them accordingly. I play a 1600W bass guitar amp through a 1000W 4x10 enclosure, on top of which is sitting a 500W 2x12 enclosure. We're talking stadium volumes here. Guess where my amp is... Never a single issue resulting from vibration.
