Hi fellas,
I am interested to know your opinion on this matter.
Took my 08 FX35 to mechanic for brakes/rotors repair. I have been experiencing heavy shaking on braking for the past few months.
So he drew a conclusion that front rotors and pads had to be replaced which he did.
What came as a surprise was that he told me he had to drill out the ABS sensor because that was the "only way". Then he ordered a new one (300$ CAD) It came the same day while he had a car but he made a mistake by ordering one for G35. I had to drive without cruise control the whole summer until the next oil change. Literally had zero time to bring a car to him earlier.
Anyway the other day I took the car back to him and he installed the sensor but all the light were ON (ABS, SLIP, etc) Brought it back again today and apparently he had to trace it down along the line to make that sensor work and clear the lights and get it back where it was. He is now asking for 50$ for his work. Total damage - 350$ - to brake and then fix the functioning part. Plus my time.
So I am basically questioning this act - was it really the necessity to break what wasn't broken.
As far as he explained the rotor got stuck so he had no choice but to take that sensor out in order to remove the rotor.
Any thoughts?
Guys who did remove this rotor by themselves (front left), can I have your input?
