Today I got ready to do transmission oil drain and fill, lifted my vehicle unscrewed the bolt and drained my fluid..
about 4 quarts came out so i twist open my s-matic and start pouring it------poured all 4 quarts and started the
engine as i was checking my fluid i suddenly realize..... im checking my goddamn engine oil dip stick......F****k
I have just poured 4 quart of tranny fluid into my engine oil...!!!!!! please don't laugh!!! I was dead beat!!!!!
omg i was packing....... so i shut off my engine and run to the nearest shop only they did not sell nissan tranny fluid
so i had to grab any tranny fluid a cheap ass Dexron Mercon type A.... I had no choice i am so goddamn stupid !!!
Why wasn;t i thinking........
Well so i come back and pour 3 quarts of the new cheap tranny fluid and pour the 1 quart of already drained fluid back into
the tranny ... thinking used type s would be better than the different oil... check the level and then i drove off to
the nearest shop to get an oil change....
While i was driving i felt a rattle i did not know whether it was from the tranny or the engine... remmeember the engine had
total of 10 quarts of oil in there mixture of engine and tranny oil..... the shop was only 3 blocks away about a 1/4 mile...so
I get a quick oil change .... and i drove for couple miles to test the car and it feels ok but just worried!!!

I have 2 questions .....
1- would my tranny be ok? remember i have now 3 quarts of new fluid that is not recommended....
2- would my engine be ok? I had 10 quart of mixed oil (s-matic and mobil 1) whick i ran for about a quarter mile an emptied out..
3-what cani do to possibly repair for this damage.... (i will do another drain and fill in a week of courseTT with s-matic)(and get another oilchange
in about a week when i am off I drive about 300 miles a week)
any help would be greatly appreciated and call me stupid or laugh at me but iam so serious and so worried right now ...
every single road/engine vibration feels like the car is going to break down... should i put some engine restorer and tranny restorer from autozone?

You probably will need to do a complete tranny drain not just the pan now and I wouldn't drive it any more untill all the tranny fluid is changed out.As to the engine oil I probably would not have driven it with the tranny fluid in it and also wouldn't have driven it being overfilled.

10 quarts??? Holy crap bro thats enough for two engines. Not only is it more than the 5.25 recommended quarts but its mixed with transmission fluid too.

Oil pans are designed so that when the oil level is correct the crankshaft doesn't hit the oil. With too high an oil level the crankshaft revolves in the oil and stirs it into a bubbly froth. That is full of air and the oil pump can't pump air. The engine doesn't get oil and the bearings, lifters and rockers all run dry. It's an excellent way to destroy an engine.

I was gonna say. Why did u drive on overfilled wrong oil in the engine? Couldve drained it all and filled with new. Same with tranny. You probably didn't do much damage if you drove 3 blocks. Time will tell I guess.

Transmission fluid is a lubricant, thinner than a motor oil. But, under light loads, it may have been "good enough" to avoid any major damage. It may take 2 or 3 oil changes to rid the engine of trans fluid.. Afterwords i suggest using syntethic

yea i know but the shop was only 2 1/2 , 3 blocks away and i am not a typical DIY person so I din not want to make any more mistakes....
or jack it up and than bring it back down/ nor i di i have any engine oil... I was panicking so much that i was not thinking straight...
I was a very short ride i mean i guess it was wrong but....only about a minute drive at under 10-15 miles

If it still drives its probably ok. Make sure you add that 4th quart to the tranny before doing anymore driving

I also have a feeling u won't be changing oils anytime soon lol. But hey everyone makes mistakes. It's just some are bigger and some minor.

This may sound strange but there are some folks who put in trans oil in the crankcase for about 10-20 miles for a good cleansing before an oil change. Like sir21 said, time will tell.

yup they usually add 1 quart tranny on top of the engine oil for engine flush, usually on high mileage engines..

thank you guys for the input i just went out and got me tranny restorer kit and engine restorer kit.... I doubt these things really do much
but i hope it helps undo any sort of dammage i might have put on PLease pray for my fx..... I had her for such a short time(2 month) to lose her

this way..... TT

tranny fluid is good to mix with your oil to get rid of sludge but draining oil and runny tranny fluid by itself is not good but if you drained it out you should be fine but a full drain and fill will be required. don't beat yourself up I do it all the time when I make mistakes! just learn from it and be more careful. hope all works well.

Relax. Yes, you made a big mistake, but it should be fine. Hopefully it never happens again but if it does, have the car towed to oil change place or walk to the parts store, get your own oil, and perform the oil change at home.

That being said, we all mistakes. Learning from them is the important part.
