7 Speed Transmission Re-Flash

rijc99 - I also felt the dialing back performance effect of the reflash but I wasn't sure if it was just in my head. I was afraid that was going to happen when I took my car in, but the jerkiness of the shifting started to get annoying in traffic.

Maybe at one of the future meets people can compare flashed and non-flashed acceleration times. I'm hoping this can be remedied again when some tuners start offering some ECU upgrades.

Yep, we should arrange a meet up soon.

I have a 2010 and when I slow down I fell a slight chug or pull when the gears are changing... Do I need a reflash?

Quick question: (I own an 09 FX50)
The jerkiness everyone keeps on talking about BEFORE the re-flash, is this when the transmission is in manual mode? If it is, I have gotten that several times when I ease off the gas pedal (in manual mode). I assume the re-flash fixes this problem?

Other than that, I don't recall having any other issues in any other transmission modes.

I thought 2010s came with the new programming.

If you are in So.Cal you can try my car to see if you like the new programming if you don't have it. I personally regret doing the reflash.

Well when I bought the car it had a problem with the air bag sensor. So they worked on the car. I noticed that all my stations were erased and my car started to do that. Bofore I didn't have this problem.

No, what you're describing sounds normal. In sport mode when you slow down, the transmission down-shifts itself. This down-shift is accompanied by rev-matching. That is what you are describing. It is more apparent if you slow aggressively while in sport mode.

What I was experiencing prior to (and on occasion, after) the re-flash is every once in a while, crawling through traffic if I get on the gas to start going the transmission forgets what gear its supposed to be in and allows the car to rev for a second prior to dropping into gear. This is accompanied by a jerk which also feels like being gently rear ended.

I still get this sometimes but not as often. BUT, my car definitely does not shift as crisply nor as fast after the re-flash. Also, the initial throttle response/up take has been tuned down. The car feels smoother because the throttle reaction is slower so the shifts are softer. Prior to the re-flash, if I jump in to my LX470, the LX feels slow to respond. But now, the LX's throttle feels jumpy.

Overall, if I can, I would go back to the original programming.

North OC. Fullerton/Brea. But work in Santa Ana/Tustin area.

I have a 2010 bought in March. I haven't been back to the dealer, but what I am experiencing seems to fit in here. I would say it happens 85% of the time. When accelerating it acts like it wants to stay in a lower gear for longer then it should, almost like it wants more gas. I'm going to bring this up to my dealer when I bring it in, I just want to know if any other 2010's are experiencing the same thing.

Just dropped mine off today. Hope its a lot smoother like everyone says it is. Got a sweet new 2010 G for a day or two. Gotta love the Infiniti loaners :-)

2009 FX 7 Speed Transmission Reflash Update

So when I was in for my 30K serivce yesterday, the advisor and tech mentioned that I don't have the transmission reflash update for the 7 speed automatic transmission. I thought since mine is a later build date it would have it, but it doesn't. So anyways I'm going back in next Monday for the reflash as the advisor said I needed it. I thought the transmission shifting was fine, but I guess not.

Anyways I was wondering if you guys think the update is worth it or not? Do you feel a difference. I've read on here that some say its worse afterwards. Like it makes the car feel slower than before to prevent fast downshifting or something.

Now that the tech mentioned it, I do notice a slight jerk and rpm jump when stopping from 40mph to 0mph. Sometimes I have to give it a lot of gas to get up a hill too, as if the car doesn't want to downshift on time unless I manually downshift it.

I have a 2010 model and i feel a little bump when coming to a stop and mine also shifts into too high of a gear too soon and has trouble up hills. Did all 2010s come with the reflash done or do i need to get mine checked also?

Yup, all 2010's come with the update. Only the 2009's come without it. I guess they still haven't solved this on the 2010 model's programming either.

I had the reflash on my 09 AAron. It was fine before and after, I did not notice any difference. I'm happy with my 7 spd.

I don't like the shift in gear when slowing to a stop, not jarring or anything, but it's far from a smooth downshift.

Thanks for the info Gee35FX! I'm going to report back to you guys when I get it done myself and see if I'm able to notice a difference.

From what i have been reading through the forum, infiniti hasn't really solved this transmission problem. They say they are working on it but no true fix yet.

As said earlier in the thread, no it does not apply to 2010-2012 models. They already come with this transmission software update.

I have my FX35 2009 re-flashed couple days ago. I had to take it to dealer because suddently the transmission start to have abrupt downshift. Few times the downshift was too hard that I thought someone hit me at the back.

Now after the re-flash seams more smooth so far. Also noticed higher RPMs compared with certain speed before re-flash.
