7 Speed Transmission Re-Flash

FInally get to drive it on highway and local. Alas, much smoother, but not as aggressive as my 07 FX35, but I am happy. =)

Drove some more. Reflash is Awesome.

i called my dealer and he said to bring the car in, and a technician will test it out and see if there's a problem with the trans.... so basically i have to be able to reproduce it... how do you guys reproduce it perfectly? I mean i feel that the RPM goes from 1000 to about 1300 when the car is slowing down from 40 to 20mph but sometimes i get it sometimes i dont... sometimes its very little it goes from 1000 to 1100, 1200... and the car barely jerks... so I was wondering what you guys would suggest me to do to be able to replicate the problem at the most severe case?

My FX50s was made in April 2009, so maybe it has a later trans model but not the June 24/09 one, hence there's a little bit of jerking but not as much as the initial ones?

Thanks for your inputs

The re-flash does more than just the 4th to 3rd gear downshift. If the service advisor doesn't want to re-flash your car ask to speak with the Service Manager or the General Manager. You shouldn't have to reproduce anything. It's hard to believe Infiniti has so many lazy service shops. The re-flash is guaranteed pay from the factory. Good service and little hassle might be the difference between me reproducing the purchase of a new FX or MDX when replacement time comes!

Try printing this thread out and have them read it, or better yet...look for another dealer.

They asked me to reproduce the situation too, I just told them it doesn't happen all the time, and then they just did it for me. But they did give me some bullshit excuse and didn't wanna fix it for me. For example, they said, if your car is not having this problem and we reprogram it, the car will crash. That is BS.

Just goto another dealership

I wish I could have been there, what an idiot. The car will crash! I'd report that to the manager so that tech could find work more appropriate to his ability and knowledge, like McDonalds.

I got Flashed !

Hey - Got my car back this evening, and I must say it's a BIG difference, post-flash! The car handles much smoother, it just seems to glide. Very nice. Can't believe Infiniti released these vehicles into the market without this programming. Yikes.

What's even harder to believe is some dealer don't want to do the re-flash?

Aight, well tomorrow morning first thing bringing the car to the service and gonna hassle them down until they reflash it for me!

Interesting comment from this 2008 article on wheels.ca

... 'Although I preferred the more nimble FX35, its higher revving V6 seemed to get hung up between the gears of the new seven-speed automatic transmission. But we were reminded that these were pre-production models and that further tuning on the V6's tranny algorithms was being done' ...

I called my dealer and booked an appointment for this thursday morning..
They said they gonna look at it.. but i will force them to re-flash it at all cost.. and possibly replace my steering column too..

I am in Bethesda, MD and my FX35 is at the dealership getting the tranny reflashed as well as replacing the steering wheel motor.

I decided to pass on the steering wheel motor for the time being. Maybe later or if it starts acting up. Frankly when I looked over the tech crew at my dealership I wondered would it be Larry, Daryl, or his other brother Larry taking my steering wheel assembly a part and putting it back together again. Now you don't think there would be parts left over or rattles that were never there before do you? Let us know how the re-flash works for you.Bill

Just got the car back and there is definitely a difference with the tranny, I will wait until later today when I get on the highway before posting my impressions.

Well, I took my car for it's first oil change today. While I was there I said I would like to get a reflash for my tranny as per Bulletin XXXXX. They never heard of it or did this particular reflash yet.
I told them that once in a while it was erratic on it's shifting (really only once in a while but it was my only complaint with the vehicle)
Well, they looked it up and said they would do it and it only took 1 hour for my 1st service/oil change and tranny reflash. My service guy is a great guy to get along with.

All I really notice is a bit smoother shifts and also a bit less lag time. Still worth it  Oh, and my FX was made in October 08
