7 Speed Trans in 09 gets bad reviews everywhere it seems

Left my 09 FX35 in the dealer for the TSB today. They say it should be done by noon tomorrow and got me an 07 FX35 loaner. I live about an hour away from the dealer, and i should go get my car back on Friday, i will post a review when i get my car back.

I told the service manager about the transmission problem, he said he heard about it and claim that this TSB should fix it. we'll see.

my car is fine... I dont see any problems with the tranny at all!

I picked up my new 09 fx35 on friday. Only drove it for about 50 miles so far, but I can say the transmission is much better than any I had test driven before.

It is a June production date which is when this new flash was released. It must have it. Shifting at low speeds is smooth, downshifting too.... not harsh at all.

Congrat on your new ride. Mine was the 06-2008 version. The newer productions probably had that problem fixed.

Soo much better!

Gameboy congrats on getting your car. Post pics if you haven't done so already

My wife took the car in on Sat. Service took about an hour and as always we got a loaner car (EX) and full detail! I didn't really get to drive it until an hour ago because my flight from Newark got in at 230am today!

I drove it to work and it feels so much better. My commute is mixed with local roads and one major highway. So I got to test the tranny in a couple different scenarios. Both up/down shifts were smooth. When I punched the gas to pass folks on the highway it responded quickly and there is one turn right by work which usually requires me to downshift with the paddle shifter but didn't need to this time!

Driving both D and DS mode were great. There is no more hunting for gears under 40mph. It feels like a totally different car. It feels like the car I paid $45K for!

Nice! Now we're talking! Pics coming after Tinting today.

I will be tinting my car on Friday. Just curious what are prices on the west coast for 2 front windows? What percentage are you getting?

I can't remember the price off hand but i have done like 6 cars at the same place.

I do the windshield too. 20% on the front doors seem to match the best, although some now are saying 15% is better, I have to check today. I do 50% on the windshield, with NO strip at the top. Doesn't affect seeing out at all, but makes the car look even more even.

Thanks for the report. I am going to get mine done in a couple of days.

I, too, also experienced harsh shifting. But I have only felt it once or twice. For those who has/had experienced it, how often did it happen?

I am bringing my car in to service, should I print out the tech bulletin for them to look at?

Just had my done today. It was night and day. My car is behaving like a car with over 300 horses should be.

It was amazing the dealer service guy had no idea that the ITB came out. I think I am going to write a letter to Infiniti and comment about the communication between corporate and dealers.

Please tell me in detail how it is different. I am getting mine done this coming saturday. As of now, I hate my car. The tranny stinks!

You will be happy... I really think you will. No hunting on mine. Downshift is smooth. Car is very responsive.

Before the re-flash I always felt the transmission was in the wrong gear. At low speed, especially coasting, the tranny stayed in the higher gear too long before shifting to the lower gear. And when try to speed up power is not there because the tranny takes too long to find the right gear. This is scary when passing on 2 lane highway.

After the re-flash my car runs very smooth. Power when I want it. No hesitations during low speed coasting.

Went to dealership today. Computer was down. Booo! Well, they re-scheduled me for next Friday, and it turns out there is a steering column's motor recall. So I am getting that done too next Friday.

After reading about the reflash I called my dealer Infiniti of Cincinnati, Ohio. The service writer said he knew nothing about a reflash and would discuss it with the techs who surprizingly also didn't know anything about it. I called back after I researched and found the reference (ITB-09-032). I have edited my post to include:After my call giving them the ITB I got a call back from one of the techs who was familiar with the reflash. I'm scheduled in for tomorrow at 9:30. I'll let you know how it works.Bill
