put my bumper back on this morning with ease, but now the service engine light is on. dealership did that whole ecu check thing and it said something about tail lamps or break lamps. would anyone know if that has anything to do with the HID's or the 20A fuse i put in? ohh and i broke a clip on the drivers side bumper.
 
Did you move the FX or turn on the ignition with the fuse out? Maybe if you put back the stock fuse it will go away, but I never got that light after I did my HID kit and I do not think anyone else has either. You can try resetting the ecu if it does not go away.
 
nope when the fuse was out the battery was disconnected. so i couldnt move the car. the dealership is going to look at it and try and figure it out. i didnt void my warranty by doing the HID fogs did I? even though i only have like 3 months left on it.
 
I would first try putting back the old fuse and see if that does it. If not then reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery overnight. In the morning connect the battery back up and fire up the HID fog's again.

And no you should not worry about the warranty, but if you take it back to the dealer I would reinsert the old fuse just in case.
 
will do. i just hate taking off that passenger side panel thing, taking it off is a breeze...putting it back on is a different story. i felt like an idiot wiggling it around for a good 15 mins before it finally fell into place.

this is the kit i used acquired through some shady apartment deal in Van Nuys :laugh:. what did everyone else use? i'll get pics of my car up when it stops raining.

definitely not trying to steal a thread... but is it possible to install a hid kit without removing the bumper... say from going under the panel that blocks it off... unscrewing the panel then just ziptying the ballast somewhere? with tiny hands of course.

yeah you can unbolt the black plastic on the bottom and just put the ballasts there. it's alot neater to take the bumper off though.....
 
yeah i'd say take off the bumper to install them, if you read a page or two back i didnt want to take off my bumper. but after the fact, i think it ended up being easier than having to work under the car the whole time.

sidenote: my matching headlights just came in. this stuff has me excited
 
I installed mine without removing the bumper. It was easy.

Have fun with the low beams! I had to take a pic of the bracket with my iPhone to figure out how to undo the metal bracket that holds the bulb in place.

Good luck with it, it is really that difficult. The hard part is if you want to do this with the bumper off or on. It is easiest and most convenient for optimal placement of the ballasts with the bumper off but you can also do this with the bumper on.

To do this with the bumper on you just have to remove the stock air intake box on the driver's side and the coolant reservoir tank on the passenger side. Then you can reach down from the top to get at the fog light bulbs. Btw, longer arms help when doing it this way, lol. I know I posted in here a really easy way to do without taking off the bumper and gives just a good of a way to do everything.
 
fyi you can remove and replace the foglights without taking anything apart. while looking at the foglight, you should be able to feel a piece of plastic that prevents you from reaching the fog light from it's side (for the passenger fog light the plastic is right of the light, for the driver side fog light the plastic is left of the light). Just pull the plastic piece towards the license plate until it pops out and then you can unscrew and replace the bulbs. Not sure about how you would mount the ballasts securely though w.o. bumper removal
