6 year old BC coilovers bouncing like crazy

Hi iS family! Sorry I was out for a bit. I thought I'd be able to finally move on and let go of my ride but something still kept me from parting her away despite her racking up the years now..

Anyhow, as the title goes, I have BC CO in my vehicle since 2012. Recently, I noticed that my car is jumping all over the place. Kind of scary going around corners as she seems to be loosing her grip with her excessively bouncing around. I raised the vehicle up and visually inspected my CO. No visible stress points, no oil seepage, springs seems fine. I redialed the setting to 18 clicks from the hardest at the fronts and 10 clicks from the hardest at the rear. Seems to improve but not the usual firm composed ride.

I thought my BC dampers could be shot, I suspect the fronts particularly the passenger side. Anybody has this problem? Should I get a brand new set or just purchase the dampers. Please share your thoughts or recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with these. I've got simple drop springs. I did do some research on coil overs approx 2 years ago when I, like you, decided to keep the FX. I called megan and bc. I cannot remember which, but I was told by at least one that they're good for maybe 50k miles. I'd call'em up and get a tech on the phone.

I looked into getting my BC's rebuilt but ended up just buying a new set instead. If time is not an issue - rebuild will save you some bucks.

HOWEVER - check that alignment first. On a lowered FX, a bad alignment can really make the car feel unsettled - I just got mine done this past Monday and the car went from being sketchy to normal again. Huge difference.

Will check them out tomorrow and evaluate my options.

Thanks for the inputs John. I have not thought much about the alignment since I just had it probably a little over 8 months ago. I also thought about the pros and cons in getting a rebuild as opposed to purchasing a new unit. I am concerned if I purchase the dampers only I might find some other parts that needs attention such as the locking collar or the locking nut.

So when are you visiting Houston again?

I'll be back in H-Town for thanksgiving... but not with the FX. Still got family there so I come back a couple times a year.

What did you end up doing here? I'm considering ordering a set of BCs for my wife's FX and came across this thread.

Jumbosrule: How long dd you have your first set on before you replaced them? Why did want to replace them? I take it from your second purchase that you liked them quite a bit? Still feel the same way now?
