I can go on and on about different treads, sidewall sizing, tire width, overall height... etc... but I haven't got the slightest clue on what offsets/sizes will rub, what offsets are flush with the fender, and I can talk a tiny lil bit on what size tires will fit a 9.5" rim. Short answer is 295/45/20 should fit rims 9.5-11" wide :wink:

Appreciate the response. I guess the offset really determines whether I will rub with 295/45?
 
Offset + rim width + tire size all play a role...

Some wider rims require more narrow tires I believe... but I don't know. Someone who would know should chime in shortly though :4tongue:
 
the size printed on the sidewall of the tire (275, 285, etc) has little to do with rubbing or not. You need to compare the actual physical dimensions on each manufacturers site. Unfortunately, while a 275 tire is supposed to be 275mm wide, it is not necessarily so. There are "big" 275's,and small 275's. Think of buying a shirt, works the same way. A large from one store does not equal a large from another.

Yikes, talk about confusing.

I was specifically thinking about ordering Yokohama Prada-x 295/45/20. What exactly should I look out for?

BTW, Thanks Z1 for quick delivery and excellent price. I ordered yesterday @ 11AM and I received delivery at 11AM today! I msged Kwame using AIM and he was pretty prompt with answering all my questions. I think got yourself a loyal customer!

if you are comparing that tire, go to yokohamas site, and compare the physical dimensions of that tire, and then compare those to the physical dimensions of stock. Take the stock width/offset into account, do some math, and you can pretty easily figure out how it all will fit together :)

Ok, Here is what I gathered on the tires (inflated):

Stock 265/50/20: 10.9 Width 30.5 Diameter
Yoko 295/45/20 : 11.6 Width 30.6 Diameter

As Cube stated Diameter is slightly bigger, but width is 0.7 inches or 17.8mm wider! That seems a lot compared to stock, but then again, new wheels are 1.5 inches wider. So does that mean it'll work? I'm confused

A bigger width with the same aspect ratio (also on the sidewall of the tire) will give a bigger overall diameter. Perfect example is the 295/45/20 vs 275/45/20 which are .6" apart. Also, the wider the tire for a given rim, the more of a bulge you have protruding from the rim and in the back...
 
I am just going to order Yokohama Prada X in 295/45/20. I used another one of those tire and wheels combo calculators and it looks like it will fit. According to the calculator, inside clearance is fine. It will stick out additional 17mm and according to the measurement I did, it will fit fine.

They are 32lbs. Not on the light side, but it does look nice.

Just joined you in the gravis club. 20x8.5 et25 (chrome:frown:-gonna paint them)

Hopefully with this setup I can cut the springs a bit for a lower stance.:2smile: ...tucked
 
I miss my old 20's, I plan on cutting the springs a bit and changing the struts (kyb), Hopefully I can get a lower stance.
 
My tires come in on Wednesday. I don't know if I will have time to bring my car in to get them installed before next weekend.
I'm also hoping that TPMS can be used with these rims. I don't think the retailer will drill any holes on the wheels.

Hmmm, +25... what tire size are you planning to run?

Probably 275/45/20 since I already have them and maybe later 275/40/20. I just wish we could drop the car a bit more...I might end up cutting the springs.
Hopefully at a 20x8.5 et25 they will be really concave....I like the concave look.
