need your opinion

thinking of selling my 45 and buying a similar price 35. might lose some money on reg./tax whatever but commuting 100 miles a day is killing me on gas. just not quite sure what to do, deal with the money situation, try to get a 35, or get a reg car.

anyone wanna trade?? lol

i have a 35, the gas is pretty bad too.

22 gallon tank, usually takes about 60 bucks or more to fill me up.

and im getting around like 18, 20 mpg

yeah i suppose the difference is small, i just thought that little bit would help, sitting in traffic im averaging like 16 per tank, just seems like im always at the gas station filling up lol

Yeah, you're already committed to driving a SUV, so have to deal with the gas mileage=) I drive a lot and the difference was small in mileage, it more mattered how you drove the car i.e. lead foot.

I wanted the V8 so unless the V6 provided significantly better gas mileage, it was a no brainer for me.

I am happy to calculate 17mpg when I fill up. Most of the time its less than that and I commute on the highway most often. Since I bouht this 45 in June I have accumulated 20000 miles and it hasn't been a year yet.

I would think a car would be your best bet if it is hurting that much. My Z4 when driven normally would get 27+ mpg (and that's with the 3.0L M54 motor), on those lead foot weeks it still gets 24mpg.

yeah i hear ya, dont think i can give up the fx, smashed it around tonight, like it wayyyy to much..might just have to buck up and deal with it...and save myself the work for selling and buying

What have you done in the way of performance mods? If you want to invest some of the work can improve your MPG's as the 45 responds really well to breathing on both ends (and a quality tune, preferably dyno). Of course that means on the flip side you will have to keep your foot out of it and we all know how easy THAT is to control.....

The difference in gas mileage between the 35 and 45 is too small for it to make a significant financial benefit. If finances permit I suggest getting a small sedan for your commute.

I just went from a G35 (with the non-revup DE that doesn't take premium gas) to my FX45 and I have a 150 mile a day commute when I am not on a business trip. I loved the G and it got about 24ish MPG, but I still prefer the FX for my needs. The extra room makes the bad gas mileage worth it.

ha true story logan, def real hard to be easy with my right foot...in terms of intake i havent done anything, all stock...but i like the idea, im gonna look into that. once i get a lil cash (tax return)

i have both a 45 and a 35, and there is a pretty big difference in both the engines...

I'm talking about the mileage, which is what the thread is basically about.
thanks though:tup: I think I realize a v8 is different than a v6
