295/40/21 ?????? fit on fx 50s?

Hello all! First post. Can I ask for your opinion if a 295/40/21 will fit on my stock 21x9.5 wheels.....AND make all clearances? I turned the wheels lock to lock and I think I've got enough clearance up front. And the wheels are barely wide enough I think....they are the same overall height and sidewall so no issues there with drivetrain. I also wonder when it's loaded in the back if it will rub the suspension. I think they will look great so I hope they will work. thanks joe

Sidewall height and diameter would be about the same, but the width is almost 1 1/4" wider. My only concern would be potentially a bit too wide for the stock rim given the short sidewall height (stock tire is ~10.4" wide and the new tire size you want is ~11.6" wide). I'd also be potentially more concerned on the handling aspects on a stock rim given the width. You may also run into abnormal inner sidewall wear, but check with a good local tire mounting shop to see if they would have the same concerns, especially on the bead and mount. I'm not sure on turning radius, I would assume this may need to be adjusted to avoid rubbing up front. Just my 2 cents.

Let us know what you work out. I'd want to go with a wider set at some point as well, but I think I'd slap on some new wheels to go with it and mount some winter sneaks on the OEM wheels.

They will fit, but honestly it would look terrible. The tire bulge would be enormous. You'd also lose some precision in the handling.

Agreed, would look not so hot and you would lose handling. I previously had a 295 tire on a 10 inch wide wheel and it bulged even then.

Thanks guys! NUTS! I already bought the tires. Amazing deal on Ebay. New Pirelli's they are 400+shipping on the rack I got em for 150 shipped. So I jumped on em. But I do know what is in poor taste visual-wise and if it bulged it would bug me. NUTS again! My rationale was that the stock 265 not only looked narrow but it was narrow on the rim at the bead; there was room. So i thought it would work. Anybody wanna buy some tires? Ha! I guess I'll try em if they don't look good then perhaps I'll do the new wheels thing at a 10.5" size. Anyone else with similar experiences? Ya know I checked with my tire guy and he said it would be fine; and that he personally 305's on his 9.5" wheel. But then again who knows what series it is may be a 50 or 60 series tire. So again if anyone has anymore personal experiences or definite opinions that would be appreciated ....Thanks again and in advance.
