2012 M Phone Commands

Does anyone know how to shorten the time it takes to make a phone call in this car? Coming from a Maxima where you just push a button and say "call (name)" to this car where you have to go through 3 or 4 menus before you can say "dial" just seems like we've taken several steps backwards on the 'convenience' trail...

I'm already in Alternate Command Mode, but doesn't seem to matter...
 
Wow... I guess everyone is just going through all these menus and prompts to make a call?!
 
You can tap the talk button again while the system is talking to you and say your command. Bypasses the prompts. At least that's what I recall without having the car in front of me.
