2012 fx35 with 22 inch niche wheels

Looks good bro
Thanks man! I really dig this car. I feel kind of like a baller driving it around. haha. I've driven a lot of different vehicles, but I have a feeling I'll be holding onto this one for a while, unless I trade it in for a fx50. There were none to be found in my region. Any advice on the road noise? Is it just something you have to live with when you ride on 22's? These michelins are supposed to be quiet, but I imagine most those tire reviews were for tires with much taller sidewalls.

That looks very nice.

PS: I just put on the Scorpion verde a/s plus, another supposedly quiet tire (#2 tire in the category on Tire Rack) but it too I find noisy.

Do you guys think that it might be the tire size? Or just the tires themselves? Ive been contemplating dropping down to an 18" rim for ride quality, but no clue what this will do for noise, unless it is all down to treat.

Oh, i definitely think it's due to tire size. More rubber means more noise insulation and vibration absorption. I had just made the assumption that if i bought top of the line Michelin tires, that they wouldn't be much louder than the mid grade 18 inch winter tires that were on there. Some pavement is significantly louder than others.

To be honest, I almost want to save my money and just get the cheaper Yokohama or nittos if its gonna be this noisy, i doubt the brand will make a significant difference at this tire size. This is my first experience with 22's. So I'll take it as a learning experience. I can see why manufacturers made the 21 inch wheels. I'm willing to bet just that little extra sidewall makes quite a difference.

That was my thought too, but have never had a vehicle with anything over 18" wheels before, so had no basis for comparison.

 Very nice. Wider tire contacts definitely will create more noise. What size tires you have and which Michellin LTX? From personal experiences, tread pattern is the major contributing factor to tire noise. Nitto 420S is the most noisy tires in my book.

Well, i got. 265/40 22. So the width is the same as the 18 inch oem.

Also lower profile tire adds to the noise. I thought the LTX more of a truck tires. The Yokohama Spec-X was the most liked tires on here.

Actually the ltx premier are supposed to be much better than Yokohama. Both tires are designed for light truck/suv applications.

I put these on last year on my 21" turbines & yes they are noisy on some road surfaces....very strange though....noisy on some, quiet on others....

PS...OP...looking good!!!

and considering the MPG from the V6, I don't know why anyone would NOT buy the V8. I have the V6 now - getting the same 16 MPG that I got in my '04 FX45. I too was done in by the scarcity of the V8.

BTW, up in Washington, I was told any V8's that they post online are immediately purchased for shipment overseas. I bought my FX45 at Kirkland Infiniti and they told me it was rare to sell a V8 locally.

Yup, I was watching the market for 5 months before I was able to grab my fx50. Pretty much every one of them under 80k miles with white on tan would sell within a week or two max. Tons of black on black, but that's the last color combo I wanted in Texas. Thankfully the one I found was low miles, so priced high initially, but all of the chrome trim had some discoloration from the Colorado road salt, so no one wanted it.

Ended up getting it about almost $6k off the asking price, but had to fly out of state and drive it back.

Not sure if the aspect ratio has much to do with it - but I could be wrong - I've just never heard it be mentioned as a contributing factor. My winters (18") and summers (20") are both the stock 265 mm width' definitely wider than most other tires.

As for the verde a/s plus, if anyone is interested... after 60 miles on them... they are very comfortable tires, do an admirable job in corners, are 'good/average' in the rain. I did find they squirm a bit however under moderate to heavy braking. Not sure if it's the tires, or are they simply following the grooves/imperfections on the roads considering their width and the atrocious road conditions in Montreal.

I believe it. They seem to be very popular in Eastern Europe and Russians apparently love these cars. I can see why! Haha.

And this just in...Just today my gf asked if she could drive my car to work! Haha! I bought her a used G35 sedan, now she wants to drive my FX!

I recently got the Bridgestone DUELER H/L in 20"... First choice was the Michelin PREMIER LTX but they didn't have it in stock. I was 50/50 between the DUELER's and the Pirelli SCORPION A/S VERDE... Now that I hear this, maybe I made the right choice... The DUELER's are SUPER quiet... Not sure about handling yet as I've been easy on them... I need to do a minor height adjustment on my coilovers and then a 4 wheel alignment before I push them...

Also, the squirrely feel of your new tires might just be that they're too new... Takes a little time to wear off the oils and whatnot that is used when making the tires and coats them while they're stored... Also the other reason why I'm not pushing my FX yet... :)

AND the KDW's are the NOISIEST tire IMO... First set of summers I got and they got really noisy REALLY fast... Lots of uneven tire wear on them too that made them even noisier... And after researching them later, found out that was common with those tires... At the time they were the only true summer tire I could get in 20" and I wanted something better than the OEM's performance-wise... BIG disappointment...

can you post more pics in direct lighting to show the wheel gap? Thinking of going 22
