2010 FX50S
Hi everyone,

Just discovered this forum and been reading a lot of interesting stuff. Thought I'd introduce myself and see who's around!

So I bought my 2010 50S brand new here in Toronto and been loving it since day0. The power and the suspension is just amazing. And quick to respond to steering input, wasn't used to that coming from a 2006 Mazda 6 lol

I haven't really done any mods, just tinted windows and wrapped hood, will post pics soon.
Couple weeks ago I bought an Ark Performance exhaust and will be installing it shortly. Currently it is being ceramic coated, mainly to protect it from the elements because of our harsh winter and road salt. But it also has the added benefit of keeping the exhaust cool. Will be posting pics of that as well once it gets done.

I mostly spend time on motorcycle forums and on a hot summer day rather be on 2 wheels.. as the saying goes: 4 wheels moves your body, 2 wheels moves your soul No I'm not being disloyal with the forum and the vehicle!

Forgot to mention, I just picked up the coated exhaust today, looks great, left the exchaust tips polished as they were, I'll post pics of the system tonight or tomorrow before installing it. Now i gotta work on getting my thread count and stuff to be able to post pics, etc.

Can anyone help me with finding a really reliable installer in Toronto/GTA area, have had my share of $hit ones and need someone knowledgeable

Welcome to the site.

I was under the impression Ark did not have a system for the FX50, they were developing it and dropped it. Post up when you get it installed.

Don't forget to sign up here in the Canada section:

Thank you, I'll sign up over there as well.. The distributor i bought it from sounded pretty confident that this is a bolt on. gonna find out soon

Still working on getting my post counts and stuff to be able to upload pics and videos, also waiting to have it installed. I can probably do it myself if I had a hoist.

Welcome aboard!

Ark has the exhaust out for the FX50/QX. The info isn't on their site, though. Unfortunately they're backordered until July.

Nima, once you have the Ark system installed, I would love to meet up to hear it in person.

I bought the Ark Performance exhaust in mid April at a cost of $1500US ($1,000,000 CAD lol), it was shipped from California.. lets skip over the painful cost of shipping and customs.. I JUST booked an appointment with Simone Performance to have it installed on Monday. So I'll be posting an update on it by next Tuesday, June 23.

The other minor mods will include upgrading any light that can be LED-ed, interior and exterior, and installing the OSRAM XENARC 66240 NIGHTBREAKER (either 4200k or 5k). Would love to hear from anyone who has installed it (plus pics). I want to do it because I think the stock bulbs are so not bright. Already upgraded the fogs to 6K 35w HIDs so the fog bulbs will be replaced by a 4300k or 5k to match the future headlight bulb color.

One of my reservations regarding upgrading the indicator bulbs and parking light bulbs with SMT LEDs is the fact that I've seen SMTs come loose and separate from the base due to vibration, happened to the one I installed in my bike and getting the little things out of the headlight assembly is a PITA - basically had to dismount the whole assembly and shake it while holding it upside down. I can only imagine how much worse it is in a car.

I'm in the process of getting a Kinetix HFC, but thats gonna come into play in about 2 weeks once compatibility is confirmed, don't want to have issues with emission test and CEL, etc.

I know the exhaust mods won't void my extended warranty, but really want to avoid re-tuning the ECU as that will most likely nullify the warranty - open to suggestions in this regard.
Other cosmetic mods include lots of plastidip! lol Will post pictures when I'm allowed lol

Nima, Simone Performance in Newmarket is a great shop. I have had work done there before.
Do you live near Newmarket?

PEEJ I've read through your thread about the BBK upgrade - beautiful setup! was wondering if you know whats the minimum offset required to clear the BBK calipers. Do you know if the 2008 FX45 20" stock rims would clear the BBK calipers? I'm guessing yours is the 6piston caliper 15" front rotor with 4 piston caliper 14" rear rotor? I have to get a set of winter tires and rims if i upgrade to AP Racing BBK; I have a set of 18" MSR with +35 offset (I think) for winter (along with Blizzak DM-V1) and that one barely clears the front caliper. That'll probably not work with the AP Racing.

I'm in North York, but gonna go up there. They quoted a very reasonable 1.5hr/$138 (plus tax) rate for the Ark install, at a rate of $92/hr. I've never been to them nor affiliated with that shop or any other, but their reviews seem pretty good, it was also worth noting that they have their own racing team all made of G35/G37s which hopefully tells me they should be knowledgeable with Infiniti. Have you had any work done with them or know anyone who has? I like to hear about everyone's experience with their local shop specially if its in GTA.

I had my springs installed and alignments done on my last FX(09 FX35), I have had many friends that have had work done on their cars, many of them were Infinitis. Never heard of any problems, Vic Simone is great to work with.

thanks nima. I'm pretty sure my wheel offset is +42. Stillen sent me a template that I printed up and placed inside the wheel to ensure proper clearance with my 21" OEM wheels. I also used 15mm spacers in front and 20mm rear and had clearance for days. Forgive for the brevity. I'm on my iPhone and have a crap signal.

Do you have a picture of the 21" OEM wheels with the brake kit? I'm looking to get 20" MSR for my winters and keep the OEM 21" for summer, all depends if this setup will fly with the brake upgrade/clearance.. And I really don't want to use any spacers.

I can't remember. Stillen sent me a stencil to print out to ensure BBK fitment before they would ship the kit. I think ither conpanies do something similar.

thanks for the template LA. I've tried stoptech rotors with brand new OE pads, had to replace them after just less than a year.. Don't have a good experience with them. I emailed stillen and got their template. I think for the time being I'll upgrade only the front and leave the rears, it gets pretty damn costly..
