2009 + up chrome fender vents

I've got a 2008, but will probably move up to a 2009up fx35 in the next year or so.

Just curious: has anyone painted those side vents to match the body color of the car?

Any pix?

You will see several posts where people plastidipped the vents. They can be painted but you need to properly prep the chrome vents for the paint to stick if you go this route. Looking at sanding, paint adherent, primer, paint and clearcoat. FWIW, I approached my preferred bodyshop and they would not do a repaint over chrome because they could not guarantee the paint would not eventually fail (they guarantee all paint work for the life of the car).

How are the vents removed? Do they have clips allowing them to be popped out, or are there fasteners behind the fender?

They pop right out after you remove the edge of your splash shield they should pop out from side to side with slight pressure. I had mine painted with the roof rails & all chrome to match by my friend at his body shop. Came out great!
