Us, Chinese have this superstition about the number 8... it's good luck... prosperity. I'm the same way...
oh, and the number 4? VERY BAD number... The way you pronounce the word "four" in Chinese is very similar to the way you pronounce the word "die" or "dead". It's like the number 13 in the western culture... some Chinese don't like the number 13 either because 1+3=4
Yeah, we're pretty obsessive about numbers
