2009 fx35 - Radiator Leak

Hey Guys

Looking for potential next steps as I'm in a bit of a bind

Long story short - my rad is leaking (if you look closely at the pic you can see the hairline crack running down the plastic part) and any shop that I trust to do the work is telling me they are booked solid till the end of next week

I ordered a new one from Rock Auto (Spectra Premium) which will be here by monday .. so .. Should I give this a diy shot? .. Or just wait for my mechanic to be available

After some research I get mixed messages if this can be done without having to drain the A/C .. Because if I don't have to touch that I think it's a job that I could pull off. As it stands right now the car is trying to overheat / dump coolant everywhere I park .. Which just sucks

Has anyone attempted this and have words of wisdom to share?

Not sure if you did it, but it's possible to do it without draining the A/C. It's a time-consuming job though. Took me 3 hours to do it on my 2010 FX35.

i had to do it on my 2017 qx70, there are several videos on youtube that show you how to do it, remove some bolts near the front and once u slide the a/c condensor out of the radiator clip, it relatively straight forward. It did take some force to told the broken radiator out but was a breeze to put it back in.

hope that helps

Regards
