2009 FX35 Broken Mirror Problems

Hello, just wanted to start off with saying hi! I am so glad i found this site!

I have a Black 2009 FX35. So far, its been kinda a pain in the ass. Its only got 6000 miles on it and has already had a rear seal go out which put it in the shop for a week. The guys at the dealer said that Infinti wanted them to take pictures of it and to send the bad seal back to them. Thats been fixed and it no longer leaks oil.

Now off to the other bad news. While backing it into the garage, the drivers side mirror kinda got caught on the side of the garage door and broke. We took it into a local body shop and got a price on a new mirror. Since the outer shell, the main part, cracked, they ended up replacing the entire mirror. We almost fell out of our chairs when we found out the cost. For the mirror, painted and installed was $1400. The mirror itself was $1200 because of the camera.

Now to my question. The new mirror looks great but something is wrong with the camera. It comes up on the display inside the car but it shows an "X". It works and shows the images but has the "X" in the middle of the image. The auto body shop called a local dealership and they had no clue. They said they haven't replaced a 2009 mirror. They were guessing something needs to be reset.

Does anyone have any ideas? I was just hoping it would be something simple without having to drive an hour to the dealership where we bought it.

I thought of that as well. The only thing is, there are 3 dealership in Colorado that I know of. The one knows about the mirror because of the body shop, they ordered it from them. The other one, I think the body shop called the service guy today and asked him about the camera. And the last one, is just way too far! I am going to play stupid tomorrow and call and tell them that this just started happening on its own. Hopefully, they can get it in under "warranty" repair!!!

I think the dealer gets paid for doing warranty work by the factory. so shouldnt be a problem for you I hope. good luck.

Metro Infiniti, in Duarte Ca is real good about helping members will warranty repairs.:tup:

He should drive to Cali then to get it fixed! :tongue:
 
I'm sorry to hear your mirror cost you $1400 to replace. I think they ripped you off, seriously!!! I had the same problem with my 07 FX35, and I bought the cover alone and replaced it. Cost me... i dunno, less than 2-300 painted.

For your reference, if this happens again, try to look aftermarket before getting it from the dealership, they rip you off.
