2009 FX with ipod

I noticed that songs from my ipod are a lot quieter than songs from the radio and songs from my iphone. I sync the same songs to my ipod (160gb classic) as I do with my iphone 4. The volume on the ipod is all the way up before I connect it with the adapter.

Just curious if anyone else uses an ipod and noticed the same volume difference between it and songs from the radio as an example. I know 2010 models and up use usb, so maybe that issue was addressed, so maybe 2009 FXs notice this?

I'm a huge music enthusiast and notice the smallest things, so maybe you just haven't paid very close attention but the sound level is remarkably noticeable to me.
 
my iphone 4 is loud, but ipod classic not....any settings you guys are aware of on the ipod classic maybe?
 
If you're using an adapter that plugs into the bottom it won't matter what the volume is set at.

Make sure the sound check is not on. It's in the settings somewher and is supposed to equalize the volume of all the tracks so that you don't get a quiet song then a loud one, but from experience, it just quiets down all the tracks.

1. What adapter?
2. You are referring to the sound check turned off on the ipod correct?

The 10 would have the same problem because that's a setting on the ipod, not specifically with the car.

My question is in regards to the adapter...how does that affect volume? I'm not sure how it would?
 
I'm very peculiar about my audio and notice the slightest differences.

You guys should try it out too....play any ipod song....turn the volume on max basically...try to stand it. Then switch to radio or something you'll notice it louder. I'm going to try FourXX_50 suggestion about the sound leveling though and see if that is the cause, but I'm pretty sure I have that feature off already.

Songs are still loud through the ipod, just not as loud and I notice the difference, while most probably don't really notice it. I'm interested in not having the sound lost since I use my ipod all the time.

By the way, I think through my iphone, I don't get any sound loss...it's only through my classic ipod from my tests a few months ago using same songs and playlists. So I think the issues is specifically something with ipods and I've already gone through all the ipod settings from what I remember.

1. I'm using the Scosche passPort adapter for the iPhone, not necessary for the iPod though (at least my 160GB classic). It works, but I'm not a fan of having to use an adapter to charge my phone. It's available through the Apple store for $19.99

1. Yep I have the same one. I know what you mean about it not locking into the iphone.
2. Checked it yesterday, sound check is off and volume limit set to highest. It's fine, I just notice the sound level slightly lower...do you notice it as well slightly?
 
I have an IPOD control question for the FX 09+ and I didn't' see any particular threat for it. This seems like the closest topic.

Question: Can I change playlists, start and stop the song on the iPhone using the Infiniti controls? So far I haven't figured out how to do that and i read the manual.

I can only skip forward or backwards and fast forward or rewind through the song with the infiniti radio controls. I have to press play on my iPhone first and then connect it to the Infiniti 09 OEM cable. If the iPhone is connected, I cannot control the iPhone manually.

Is this how the system is supposed to work or am I just a newbie and don't know what I'm doing?

I was hoping the system was a little more "high speed" than that, but oh well. I thought about just buying a mini headphones jack to RCA jack cable and plug my iPhone into the aux ports in the arm rest.

I think the OEM cable is too short, especially sine I have to unplug it every time i want to change playlists. With the mini headphones cable, I will just use the iPhone's normal touch screen interface and run the sound through the Infiniti speakers. I'm going to try that today.

If that doesn't work very well, I guess I'll look at buying an adapter for the OEM cable that will let me charge the iPhone 4 and use that. It would be nice to have an adapter for the OEM cable that could add about 2 feet of cable and convert the cable to charge iPhone 4s.

Or even better, to just run the music from the iPhone 4 via bluetooth too the speakers. It already works for phone calls. You think it'd would be easy enough to play music too. That's probably a iPhone issue.
