we just picked up an 08 fx35 with 40k miles from our local infiniti dealer, the day after we got it i noticed the a/c clutch is abnormally loud. you can hear it making noise when you are inside the car and you can hear it when you are standing outside.

we had the infiniti dealer pick the car up a few days ago and they gave us a new g25x for a loaner.
of course the g25 doesnt make any noise when you turn on a/c

the infiniti dealer is saying the noise is "normal" and when i asked how come the loaner car doesn't make noise his rebuttal was because the a/c system in the FX is alot "beefier" than the g25

so i guess my question is:
are the a/c compressor clutches inherently loud on the FX's ?or is what im hearing the start of the compressor clutch failing?

my only other recourse i see is having him show me 2 or 3 other fx's on the lot that are just as noisy.

p.s. i am aware of the tsb about noisy belts and the dealer said everything checked out with that and its not a tension pulley issue

I would definatly have the dealer let you listen to some other FX's just for your peace of mind if nothing else. Can't hurt and if it's not the same they will have to admit there is an issue and fix it!

Sounds like a bunch of bs to me.
Go to another dealer and see what they say about the noise.

yeah, I talked to the service manager today and now they're holding the car until monday so he can personally go over it with the mechanic who looked at it and said its fine. so now if the mechanic insisits its "normal" i doubt the service manager is going to go out of his way to do any warranty work.
So if they call me on monday and say theres nothing they can do, i guess im going to have them show me other fx's on the lot that make the same noise if its so "normal"

This vehicle was purchased from an infiniti dealer who boasted about how thoroughly their used cars are tested. yet after we bought it, the car needed wheel balancing, alignment, new battery, intellikey recoded, and now noisy a/c compressor. and we were left with a dead battery 2 days after they installed the new battery because the mechanic forgot to tighten the positive battery cable on the battery

when i ac compressor kicks in makes a loud clunk, and when you turn it off also. I heard this normal. But wasnt like this brand new :)
