2008 ex35 sun visor removal

We recently picked up a 2008 EX35 w/22k miles to replace my wife's FX35. It seems that a known issue is that the doors covering the mirrors on the sun visors tend to snap off. I've got a pair of new sun visors in hand, but am having a heck of a time getting the originals removed.

There are 2 screws which are holding the visors in place, and a trim cap covers the screw location. I don't want to apply much more force to removing the cap as I don't want to do any damage. Anyone got a tip on how to get the caps off?

I spoke with an Infiniti parts dept gal and she gave me a suggestion (push backward on the cap while trying to fit something under one of the locking tabs), didn't work for me.

Thanks in advance,

It should pop off without any damage. You probably just need to use a little more force. I've taken the visors off a few different Infiniti's and haven't broken one yet.

Yes, just used a small flat head and it pops right off. IIRC, slot it in between the cap and the headliner and it should come right off.
