2007 FX35 AWD-need advice on best Aftermarket Nav & Ipod Interface!

So here's the deal, I've read all the posts I could find on these two subjects but can't seem to find a clear answer, so that's why I'm posting.

I have an 07 FX35 loaded with the camera, cd/dvd, color screen, etc, but NO NAV & NO IPOD CONNECT. I don't like the idea of adding the overlay GPS thing becuase it seems kind of wasteful & the system seems unproved to spend $1600 bucks on it, in my opinion, so that's not an option and I don't want to move or alter my factory set-up.

To solve the Nav problem: I plan on adding a Moto TN765T 5' GPS screen where the current cigarette lighter & useless tray is located. I am hoping to have my local stereo shop fabricate something that will flush mount the unit right in that space without altering anything else.

To solve the IPOD problem: I was planning on purchasing the iSimple Ipod interface that connects to the CAT button, not the one that connects to the FM input.

Has anyone else tried this for the NAV? What do you think the drawbacks would be? Any other feedback on this would be appreciated. Also, has anyone used the iSimple interface? If so, how do you like it?

I plan on doing both items this week, hopefully. Thanks.

I'd buy a Dice Media bridge. I'd mess around with putting a pie nav tv unit and attaching a gps unit with composite out and access to buttons for the nav unit.

Thanks man...I'm gonna check out the Pie navtv. As far as the iPod, I really don't care about the Bluetooth portion, as I already use a top of the line headser, which is much better than the factory crap. Other than that I don't see huge difference, plus i'd have to wait & order...lol

I'm having the iSimple put in 2day. Ill check out that navi...you know the price installed? Just curious. Thanks.

No worries, Dice Media bridge is just high quality, I don't care about the bluetooth or anything else, but the fact it takes USB from a 30 pin, and I can have the video composite out going to my pie nav tv, it is the only way that I know of that will let me play videos from my iphone to my nav tv, while having sound from my dice media bridge -- all in one if that makes sense.

pie is 100% plug and play, no splicing, no sodering, buy it from amazon.com, i think it's like 225. you can do it in 5 seconds if you can remove the head unit.

the nav unit just makes sense as you're using the stock screen and just puting the nav screen on there. only problem is how do you enter address information? you'd have to have access to the nav unit so you can do that. soemthign i haven't thought about yet...

Ok, gotcha...Yea I don't download any videos or anything, so that wouldn't make a big difference for me.

I had the iSimple put in today and it works fine, title displays on the screen and I can control my iphone with my radio. Only thing is the sound quality ins't great, not even as good as the radio...I have to turn the volume up a lot higher than with the radio...But I only used Pandora so far, as I haven't put any music back on my iphone yet..lol

How much was your Pie Nav Tv installed? Any good site you know of?
