2007 FX Factory Window Tint

Hello All,


I just tried to get my 2007 FX35 inspected in Dallas County (Texas) and failed the inspection because my front window tint tested at 19%.

I just looked through the state code and found that if the tint was FACTORY INSTALLED, the tint sub-section does not apply. Does anyone know:


a) What the factory FRONT window tint was for 2007 FX35's (if this was standard)?

b) Where can I find this information to prove to the inspection site that it is factory (if item a does show that it was tinted by the factory)?

c) Does tint get DARKER or LIGHTER over time? i.e. if factory was 20% and the tint has degraded since that time, would this take the tested percentage to 19% from 20%?

Factory specs should be no tint at all on the front windows. The glass itself may block a little light but no where near the 19% reading you're getting now.
 
Well that's unfortunate...I guess I'll go back to the dealership that inspected it before they sold it to me last year and make them pass it or re-tint it to pass...
 
Only the rear doors, rear window and the (2) little side windows in the cargo area come tinted from the factory.

Your front windows should read like 80+% (if not 100%)
 
So after speaking with Mac Haik Ford whom I purchased my FX from in November of last year - they will be reimbursing me to have the tint replaced with the correct percentage.

Can anyone recommend a good tint shop in the Houston area? Price does not matter as long as it is a top-notch job.
