2006 FX35 body work question

Hi - My name is Dious and I have a 2006 FX35 I bought used 3 years ago with 25,000 miles on it and one owner and I adore this car. Recently I got into a fender bender and it was my fault. Living in CA your insurance premium goes up 45% if you are at fault, no injury and over $1,000 damage. So $ 1,118.00 a year to $ 2,018 a year...sweet! Haven't been able to bargain with my insurance company and they refer to it as a surcharge for the next three years.

On top of that the shopped that fixed my car had to put a new head light in at $ 1,300.00 for the lamp alone and some bumper work etc.

I don't have a picture at the moment but the light that was replace does not sit perfectly flush to the surrounding area at the bottom of the light like it should. The original lamp fits flush and is fine. You can't really tell unless you are looking for it, but it sort of bothers me they couldn't put it together like it was originally. Am I being too picky?

Any feedback on any of the aforementioned appreciated.

Thanks Dious

The light that they replaced your broken/damaged one with, is it brand new? Does it appear to be properly mounted on top compared to the passenger side? Pix would definitely help. And sorry to hear you got in a fender bender. Hope apart from the light everything else was fixed properly.

Everything looks great except the little bit of misalignment... the headlight is brand new. The bumper was repaired and there wasn't much damage to it. I will get a picture if I can figure how to post it. I tried to post a picture of my car but the only choice I have is to use a URL.

One thing I can think of is that they might have put/slid the bumper wrong into the mounting clips that are directly under the headlight, if the bumper went over, instead of into the clips, that might cause the misalignment. If you have photobucket, post using that.

When you look at the pic of my headlight, you will notice two clips, that's what might be causing the issue.

I believe you are right - that is right where the bumper is pushed out right below the bottom edge of the light! That is crazy you have a picture of that area! Thanks man!

Easy fix, but you will need to remove a few screws to slightly pull it out and then align the bumper piece that goes into those clips and snap it back in.
Yeah I've taken my FX apart a few times ;)

I would love to work on mine but live in a condo and have no workspace. I really like what you have done with your FX. Mine is stock except the wheels and at some point I would like do coil overs and spice up the performance but I really have no complaint and drive like an old man which I am - lol

You don't need much space really, you could even do it at a parking lot or curb side to your condo ... and thank you, it's a never ending project :)
