2005 leather crack

I recall seeing the phrase used as "leather seating surfaces" or "Leather appointed seat trim" which is a disclaimer meaning "only the surfaces your body touches" like seat bottom, seat back and not the sides of the bottom cushion or the back part of the seat back.

THIS:good:

Infiniti use to put it down as "leather appointed seats" and not just leather seats. Meaning only certain parts of the seat is leather.

So no it wasn't false advertising.

Almost every single manufacturer uses only leather on certain parts of the seats including mb, BMW, Lexus, Acura, etc.

Only time I think you can get full leather is on really high end cars like a Bentley where the seats have like 12 cow hides on them.

Mine looks awful... Found a local guy said he will fix it for $75.... My observation when I went into his shop was that he will prob do it for a good bag of weed but then again $75 is still prob cheaper.. Made an apt. for the third week of March (first vacation) I think my only concern is matching that specific color/pattern cause he will replace the side and the first top portion.. He looked at it and was pretty confident he could match it so we will see...

Seeing this, "tears" are not only in the seat but also in my eyes.
What is the benefit of the choice for leather when this is the result after some years, maybe better of with normal fabric ,alcantara ie.will last longer.

BTW has there been improvement later on with 2nd gen ,the models 2009 etc.?

I just bought this stuff:
http://www.leatherrepairkits.com/infiniti.htm

Didn't try it yet, but the color looks like it will match perfect(I have the wheat interior). I only bought the top coat from them though, already had the repair kit from Amazon for $6.

This is just crazy with so many of you dealing with the cracking leather. I had to go to my FX to double check the seats but they are solid in a almost 10 year old car.

But my BMW on the other hand wasn't that lucky, especially where the seatbelt was rubbing against the side.

Zebra let us know how that product works. I have a tare in my Benz from my dog so wonder if that would fix it.

Adam, you're luck out. Not sure how your still looking like it was new. Mine is has cracks now. A couple half inches on side and a two inch in the front side. I will have to find a shop around me and get it fixed up.

I guess for once my FX is being nice to me lol. But I guess you're right Andy, I must say that even though the previous owner didn't do squat to the exterior he kept the interior clean.

On another note does anyone know what the best way to clean the stitched up Infiniti logo is?
