*Disclaimer: I understand that many of these answers/pics to be are located across dozens of other threads, but it seems that there is not a single thread dedicated to QAs, instructions, or pics on doing this conversion and figured it could be a benefit to IS. This thread will be updated with info/answers as I work through the process.*

I'm picking up my wife's new-to-us 2005 FX35 with Sport and Touring package this evening and the only thing it's missing that my wife really wanted is the reverse camera.

Because of this, I'll be installing a double-din in place of the stock orange screen and relocating the orange screen to where the analog clock is. I'm also going to attempt to create a DIY/write-up so others can perform the same, especially since Nissan radio's begin going kaput after about 10 years (if not sooner) and it seems to be a very much wanted mod/install by folks but many are hesitant due to work type and modifications.

Before I get started, however, I did have a few questions and would appreciate any assistance.

1. In addition to keeping the steering wheel controls with the Axxess adapter, is there a way to keep volume and tune knobs remain operable?

2. Changer isn't necessary, but could this remain operable with a new headunit?

3. Being a Bose system is a harness needed?
-Speaker outs are wire, not RCA.
-Metra harness needed.
-Antenna adapter needed
-If steering wheel controls are still wanted, PAC SWI-RC or Metra Axxess adapter will need to be installed.

4. Is extending wires necessary to mount the orange screen at the analog clock location?
-No wire extension needed if moving orange screen to clock location

*thanks to la_fx35, Bklynjohn718 for their input!*

Make sure when you hook up the aftermarket steering wheel controls, that you read the maual closely. It was tricky to get it to work for me.

Well the wife has decided she doesnt want to spend hundreds on a CD player and backup camera simply to get a backup camera. So my next thoughts are has anyone installed a secondary monitor for the reverse camera somewhere else in the vehicle? Any thoughts/ideas on where to do so?

^you can install it in a clock area. Or buy an aftermarket rear view mirror with built-in monitor

She likes the auto dimming and homelink. lol. Where the clock is may be an option, my only concern would be getting scratched when people grab the shifter. Do you ever hit your orange screen?

Guys I need some help on my 05 FX35. I just installed an Alpine aftermarket stereo and it all works well but my problem is METRA AXXESS ASWC-1 that I have no clue where to connect the wires in the stock Infiniti harness. Which steering wheel adapter did you guys use? Metra Axxess ASWC-1 or the PAC SWI-RC? What pin or color of the wires in the 16 PIN stock harness did you connect the after market steering wheel control adapter? Thanks in advance for all the help.

I used the Metra one and followed the instructions that were included with the adapter.

hey guys, after i got my dash replaced under warranty(year ago), i noticed the reception for the radio was weak. is there a wire back there that is easy to find to see if the dealer plugged it back in?

Would be hard to reach or see behind the radio unit without removing it. I would just remove it and check. Maybe you can unscrew your antenna to test if the reception changes, that might give you an idea if it is connected.
