What is causing this. The check engine light came on, and I took it to the dealer to get the diagnostics on it, and they said it was a bad ECM ground, and that it needed to be cleaned off, would take about an hour and 250.00...whats up with that! Is that something I could do myself? I dont know what would cause this. I have delt with my Lexus ECU and it didnt have any signs of "dirtyness if you will" it looked perfectly fine and it has nearly 120K more miles! the FX only has 90k

Check out these two recent threads

My FX is Breaking Down....!!!!! AHHHH..... - InfinitiScene.com

And welcome to the Scene.

I saw both of those threads in my search, but I dont have a grounding kit. I dont know why this is being caused. The car is 100% stock and it has all of its matainecne done, and its never abused, its driven by and a mother of 4 grown kids. I dont know, maybe I missed it, thanks for the reply and welcome!

Mine happened to me b4 I got my grounding kit..........

My experience was a Pre-grounding kit - bud.

did they tell you what code came up?

Psiclne indicated that a TSB (technical service bulletin) is out for a similar problem.

Picked up the car Yesterday Metro Infiniti and apparently it was spitting out a code of: U1000

They said it was a ground terminal that was bad- which there is a TSB for: TSB EX12AA 2.2

My invoice says:

"Found Code U1000. Repair EMC Ground Terminal Per TSB EX12AA 2.2"

The cause does not have to because of a grounding kit but also due to one or more loose terminal grounds in one of the 4 major grounding points as stated in the threads.

Let us know what happened and what it says on the invoice as it can be valuable to other members - thanks!

I am having this same issue, my wiper stopped working, my head light stays on without going off even with the switch being off, my both radiator fan and AC fans are always on even when the car is not powered up or when AC is off, both fans still rotate. I checked and got the code U1000 "CAN COM CIRCUIT" and the part number was pointing to the ECM. What can i do, will cleaning and re-tightening the ground close to the ECM fix this problems? Where is the location of ECM on 2006 fx35 AWD found?

The ECM is in the passenger side behind the glove compartment. You will have to remove the glove compartment to access it. I would try to clean the ground wires first. Not sure if there is a ground wire near the ECM. You may also want to check and clean the ground wire by the battery near the IPDM/fuse box. Need to remove the battery cover to see that ground wire.

Hey ONELLY23,

Did you end up resolving this issue I am having the exact same symptoms with the lights on, radiator fan and ac fan, wipers not working ect. This issue came up while I was driving and caused the gauge cluster to go haywire, felt like it was in limp mode as the shift from 1st to 2nd was a little rough - I checked my codes: U1000 P1212 P1610 P1612 P0462 U1001

U1000 Can Communication Error
P1212 TCS Circuit
P1610 Immobilizer Lock Mode
P1612 Communication between ECU & Imm.
P0462 Fuel lvl sensor
U1001 Can Communication Circuit

Did cleaning the ECM ground work for you here? Did you get an immobilizer code thrown too?

I'm still stuck with the problem. Although it still drives, but i can't use my adaptive headlights and the leveler, front wiper, rear defogger, and my fans are stuck on HI.. Were you able to resolve your issue? I was told to replace the ECM and d fuse box close to the battery,I haven't don't those tho.

Has anyone fixed there issue im having the same problems as Onelly. U1001 code tho but same issues

Check all, ALL of the grounds. By check I mean find one at a time, separate it from the surface it's connected to, sand this surface with 80 grit sandpaper (dremels nice to use), apply dielectric grease and then reattach the ground. There's ground in the engine bay:confused:, in the cab  and even the exhaust is grounded.o_O
