Any information would be helpful.
Ia an OEM starter worth the wait and money versus a new Advance Auto bought starter?
I expect the starter is bad (280,000 miles). The battery was just replaced yesterday with a fresh Die hard battery manufactured 1 month ago. No change in symptoms. Cleaned terminals etc.
Symptoms: The car won't crank. turning the key results in only 1 thing: A click (probably the starter solenoid). No cranking whatsoever. Headlights are bright and don't dim when trying to start. The battery voltage stays steady when trying to start. Jump-starting did not help.
The morning of the failure the cranking was slow. barely started
Also, I am 500 miles away from home, so have limited tools. Changing a starter should be doable.
Can anyone confirm that this sounds like a bad starter?
Can anyone advise on the quality of new aftermarket (Advance auto) replacements?
