2003 - 2008 Paddle Shifter Installation

You dont have to. You can just click and it auto goes into manual mode and once u stop using it for a bit it goes back to normal.

Tim is right on. You have to shift to "D" and then push the shifter to the right to go into "M" mode; otherwise, the paddle do nothing!

Wow. this is awesome. I really want to do this. Great write up bro. I have done lots of custom work. and tons on motor work. But this one looks like the fairly serious diy. I really want the paddles now!!!

Is this as hard as it seems?? I am not the best at electrical, but i have done some stuff. I have soldered tons of leds onto boards and what not, circuitry is very confusing to me.

Have others w less experience successfully done this?

If you've done lots of custom work, tons of motor work, and know how to solder then you can definitely handle this. Especially considering the detailed info in this thread...

If you're really nervous about it, find a spare clock spring on ebay and do that part at your leisure. Once you have that done the actual install is really easy. The dash comes apart easily and the splices are all within 6" of each other.

Ya I just read through all the steps very thoroughly, and some other related pages. I think I will give it a shot.

I'm looking for the parts now. Thanks

With the background info you provided, I don't see any reason that you can't tackle this mod. Yep as Tim said, buy a spare clock spring and take your time to fit the paddles. Its more help full if you have a set of signal and headlight stalks too.

Ok thanks for the advise guys.

My mod list is a little bigger than I thought now, lol.

Dropping fx off ar paint shop today to change some stuff up, then doin some interior stuff (headliner, console) next door.

I am ordering lots of parts now, so when I get it back I can start tackling some of the mods.

In a few months I will be looking real nice.

Nice write-up! Combined with turbocad's DIY this should be reasonably straightforward. :-)

For the folks who have done this mod, is it possible to intercept the shift wires at the shifter (specifically plug M47) rather than where the harness plugs into the unified meter (plug M19)? The plugs / harness I'm referring to are shown in the screen grabs from the service manual shown below. I imagine this would be a little easier to access rather than pulling out the radio. Any advice / help is welcomed.

Question, I'm looking up the spiral clock spring for my 2006 FX35

But I see this from you:
'03-05 FX35/45 25567-CD025
06-07 FX35/45 B5567-CC00E'

Under the 2006 Infinits FX35 parts on InfinitipartsUSA, the spiral clock spring number is 25567-CD025, not B5567-CC00E.. but does it make a difference?

Hmm. I think InfinitiPartUSA made a mistake.
Part# 2556-CD025 is for 04 - 05 FX where the steering wheel audio control buttons are NOT lighted.
Part# B5567-CC00E is for 06 - 08 FX where the steering wheel audio control buttons are lighted.

Order B5567-CC00E for your 06.
