To help others that have a 2003-2008 FX45, there are now TWO options that I personally am aware of:

1) UpRev Osiris Flash Service

2) UniChip (only 2003-2005)

I confirmed with both companies that they are either able to tune our cars or have an off-the-shelf product for us.

UpRev
http://www.uprev.com/products.php
UpRev Osiris cost $300 for the software plus local AWD dyno time. Typically, total cost is around $650.

Once received, we will reprogram the ECU with a new file that is customized to your needs. Overnight return shipping for continental US is included in the price and we ship within 48 hours of receipt in most cases. Call us before shipping to verify processing time.

Parameters that we will tune include:

Up to 5 Maps on cruise control equipped vehicles
Idle RPM
Speed Limiter
Electronic Throttle Control to achieve Wide Open Throttle at all speeds
Rev Limiter
DTC disable
AFR Targets
Fuel CompensationIgnition Timing Advance
Cam Phasing for equipped vehicles.

UniChip is a piggy back system that plugs into your car, so a true plug and play. You also can get a custom map made, or better yet, a custom tune.

Find a local UniChip tuner:
http://www.unichip.us/235-unichip-tuners-world-wide

For Illinois, two tuners with AWD dynos. GRD and Performance Autowerks. GRD is a UpRev dealer and Performance Autowerks is a UniChip dealer.

So are there any comparative results as to which product is "better" or does it just come down to a one on one visit (if you want to fully maximize your gains over a plug and play) and the quality of the tuner performing the work?

The Osiris "tuner" version (the one that can be adjusted by the user indefinitely) is $700 and somehow mates itself to the first ecu with which it communicates so as to adhere to it's "single license" payment plan. At least that's how it is intended to operate.............. :nerd:
Does anyone here have any version of the software?

You answered your own question. A "generic" tune of a plug and play is good, but a custom dyno tune is best since every car is different, more so if you have mods. In general, a custom dyno tune should be "better" than a non-custom tune. The difference will increase as on the skill level of the tuner.

TS had a master tuner, who is now at Cobb I believe. He understood it's not about the maximum horsepower/torque gain, but how the power curve changed vs baseline throughout the entire power curve.

I personally would go UpRev because it's cheaper. If I had the extra cash, I would go UniChip system + the custom tune.

UniChip is unique where it's a plug and play system AND they can do custom maps without doing a dyno tune. Not as good as a custom dyno tune, but they have done enough tunes that they are able to ballpark the modifications. They just need your input such as what mods you have done and how aggressive you want map.

It's not perfect, but for the most part, intakes have a certain characteristic they can compensation for as an example.

I talked to the UniChip tech who does the maps and he is swamped right now but will provide me with the dynos of the FX45 they did their baseline/tests on. Really nice guy and he knows his stuff.

Wow Ed, this great info. I've been waiting for an UpRev at GRD for months. If you have anymore info on UniChip, please pass it on. As matter affect, I'm in the mids of doing the very last engine bolt on mods (Transgo Shift Kit) today.

I will be visiting Performance Autowerks this afternoon to talk to them about the Unichip. I'm so tired of waiting on GRD. I call them the day before and getting the same answer that they're still working off the backlog and will call me when they can determine a date for my and two other FX tune. Well if talking to Performance Autowerks goes well, I think I'll go with the Unichip instead. I know is will probably two times the cost of UpRev, sigh.

Good thing is you can take it and use it on any car -- just need an OBII and new maps ($5.00 for the pre-tuned one).

That could be worth the extra cost IMO. They have a cool module for phones too.

Yup! that's exactly what I was thinking. I'll keep you all posted.

I went to Performance Autowerks in Plainfield with Andrew this afternoon and learnt that they no longer work on the Unichip.

Handy_Andy (ha I hope you don't mind me calling you that, too many Andrew's around), just found out that GRD is also a UniChip installer!

GRD
24.2 miles
1032 East Ogden Ave Suiet 132
Naperville IL 60563
US
Phone: 630 369 2800

There is one more UniChip installer, and might be worth it for you to look into, I have no idea if they have an AWD dyno or not:
Ulimate Driver
23.2 miles
321 Town Line Rd
Mundelein IL 60060
US
Phone: 847.970.9562

For UniChip, there are maps included, done on their AWD dyno, so an AWD dyno isn't necessary, but optimal if you want to get it done.

UniChip is $525 MSRP, you can get 10% off and free shipping off a few websites (ask me if you need help on this).

So you can run as-is, plug and play, or add Dyno costs to that.

Actually, I might recommend UniChip, because you can use it on any vehicle, you just need to buy the right harness.

I thought UniChip was much more, but I called their Headquarters and confirmed it's only $525 for the entire kit and is all I needed.

If UpRev at GRD is around $600 with dyno tuning, UniChip is sounding not so bad.

Hahaha, the GRD location listed here is their old location. They're now in Villa Park off North & Rt83. I'll call Ultimate Driver later to see if they still around. Thanks for the info.
