2003-2008 FX35 / FX45 Outer Tie Rod Replacement

To anyone contemplating using the Deeza parts for replacement, be advised that the part numbers seem to be reversed; 608 is pass side and 606 driver's. Doesn't matter if you're doing both, but since I was only doing the pass side, it really messed up my repair schedule. Apparently they think "right" is viewed from the front of car and not driver's seat. Or maybe I'm all wet. At least they have Zerks.

EDIT: Hmm, no cotter pin hole. Wonder if I should stake the threads with a chisel?

I normally do it backward from the DIY. I loosen the locking jam nut first because its easier with the tie rod in place. Then go after the castle nut.

Also if ur replacing the tie rod end. U don't excatly need the tool, just one good hit on the aide of the toe rod and hit the whole end downwards. Never failed me so far. But if u have the tool go ahead with it. Its the proper way but might just take a little longer.

Isn't that how it is in the DIY? Step 4? Also, there is no castle nut in the pics.

FWIW and i'm no expert. I just did my other side this AM and had to bang the crap out of the tie rod end with a HF pickle fork. And had to cut off the lower stab bar link with a Sawzall. Bleh. 8 years of IL salt I guess.

Old Thread but..... I need to buy the passenger side outer tie rod?? any good suggestions on prices? websites?..

Thanks Zebra!!!! After reading this thread I'm a little confused on which part I should get? Is it Int606 for the passenger side?? Also another stupid question lol what would the sway bars be categorized under? I need a set of these. Thanks!!

What's wrong with the sway bar? Most of the time all you need is to replace the rubber bushing that mounts it to the frame. I can't imagine the sway bar would go bad unless you got into a bad accident or drive into a really deep pot hole that swallow half of the tire :smile (2):

Funny you say that :bomb::bomb: . I let my younger sis drive my car (stupid mistake) she ended up hitting the tires on the curb so hard that she bent the passenger side rim. So now my car is making like a clunking sound and the mechanic told me it was the sway bar and outer tie rod that needed to get replaced. My car is an 08 so I might as well do bith sway bars ? Or what do you suggest sir?

Wow, in that case sway bar is in order. might want to look a closer look at the sway end link too.

I'm glad this thread exists and has popped up recently. My passenger side front feels wobbly when I hit bumps and potholes. I been thinking it's the tie rods. i'll have to give them a jiggle to see how much play there is.
