edmunds says the from the 03 the suspension was changed in 04 and a major refresh in 06 to make the ride less harsh

anyone here driven both and can tell me how the ride harshness compares between the pre and post 06 model...thanks

have a buddy looking at an 03 and an 04, but may want to steer him toward 06 and above (like mine) if it is significant improvement...

I have driven most of the 1st Gen (03 - 07) FX35 and FX45. I honestly did not feel any ride comfort differences. I would steer your friend into an 06+ since the interior is more modern then -06.

ok, but cost wise 06+ seem much more pricey i think than the 03 or 04 which I think is a concern for him...I will relay the info, the interior is much nicer and modern but at a cost it seems...

just as a friendly piece of advice that was given to me by a specialist nissan tech.

The VQ and VK platforms underwent significant changes throughout their lifescycles. For example later VQ35DE engines had slightly updated valving and internals, that led to much less oil burning.

Changes like these don't get discussed much, but later model cars are on the whole, more reliable and should be better off than earlier vehicles.

My 2008 burns less than 1/2 a quart of oil after 5000 miles, whereas I know of some cars that would be dry of oil after that many miles, without a top up.
