1st DIY Mod Completed: Painted Grill & Left Fuji Chrome

I may try this paint this weekend on my grill, but Im going to do the clear coat as well. Im just trying to figure out a way to keep the outter frame chrome. So I want to leave the outter edges of the top and bottom bars chrome and paint the rest. Going to be some careful taping to pull that off. I figure if I can't do it I can just paint the whole grill black.

have you thought about using some black vinyl for the grill? I did it and I have the smoke chrome showing off the "bumps" and the border.

just get some black vinyl , cut into strips (roughly the size of the forward facing part of the grill), use a sharp blade to cut the top and wrap the lower underneath.

I like this way because I can always remove it and it wont chip.

or mask and paint away:biggrin:

Yeah, let me also ask for forgiveness, but yes thats is what I want, but I will keep the chrome badge. That is vinyl tape? Looks like paint.
 
not painted, not vinyl tape, but the stuff they use for signs. I got some from a sign shop, comes in a roll, but only need like 2-3 feet.
 
I've seen in person and it looks great! You can't really tell its tape.

you really don't want to put this on, cause you can't sand it. you have to peel it off if you want to remove it.
( that what it is happening to me NOW ). really sucks.

the grille looks great. Anyone have any pics of a black grille on a copper fx? In my head, I think it would look nice, but you never know until you see it, y'know?
