Hi Guys,

I have my 12 FX50 for about.. 9 months now.

I don't really like the seats to be honest. With winter boots, my legs are higher than the seat and not supported.

I found a 13 FX50S with about same mileage as i have. I'm not sure if I should switch.. i would loose some money of course.

Any advices? Problems on S model that are not on Regular FX50?

Thanks!

Asth

I have 2012 FX50S and it has lots of advantages. Among them better ride and bigger seats.

Only difference between the S and non S model is the suspension and rear active steering. Everything else is the same. Save your money and don't switch. Try to get a different seat put in (requires custom railing fabrication).

I like the seats on the S better than the regular. Almost feels like you slide forward on regular ones the s has the bolster and hip adjustments wich tighten the seats up and give you a firmer hold+ theyre cooled & heated. More sporty imo. Other than that you just get paddle shifters, wood interior wich i didnt like at all so i wrapped it, the dampening shocks wich dont really make a difference & the rear active steering. My fav part of the S is the bigger brakes & wheels & of course the seats!

I agree with Edwin about the seats.

Here is what you get with the Sport Package On the FX50S (this is on my 2010 and I'm sure it is the same with the newer ones) This is copied from the brochure.

Sport Package FX50
-continuous damping control (CDC) with Sport and Auto Mode
-Rear Active Steer
-solid magnesium Paddle Shifters
-sport style front seats with thigh support; Driver's Seat with power bolster adjustment (4 way)
-Dark tinted Headlights, side air vents and lower door trim

Guys it says right there, that the sport model gets better seats with more adjustments and a thigh bolster. If the seats bother you I would at least suggest trying out the sport model seats. If you prefer those, then it will probably just be cheaper to buy the 50S rather than trying to slam a different set of seats into your car. Plus you get the added benefit of all the other sport upgrades.

Thank you guys!

I really appreciate the inputs!

I think the best thing will be to compare between having custom seats and switching to the 50S in term of $$$

I agree that the other things are goodies (adaptative cruise, paddle, Rear active steering) that i wouldn't probably notice..

Thanks IS!

The seats and the paddle shifters are definitely a plus. Once you get paddle shifters you would not want to go back.

Something to consider--the 2013 FX50 automatically pairs the Sport package amenities with the Technology amenities (you can't get the Sport without the Tech). So, you must factor in the adaptive cruise, lane guidance system, and other Tech safety features to compare apples to apples.

Haaa okay i'll jump ahead and grab the last year they made the FX50S in Canada :P

I've passed by and will not switch to the 2013 FX50S because the dealer who have the FX doesn't give me enought for exchange.. -.- Would had lost around 8k..

honestly if while wearing boots your legs are 'above' the seat, why not just raise the seat a bit or move it backwards so your legs are at more of an angle? I am 6'2" and don't have an issue with my legs being "off the seat".

We also have a 2010 FX50S and the seats are a nice addition but not worth switching cars just for that reason unless you're going from a base FX50 to a fully loaded FX50S.....

to be clear, 2009 the FX50 came with paddle shifters no matter the packages. Mine has deluxe touring and premium (non sport, non tech) but I have a lot of stuff that on 2010+ you need more packages for iirrc. I dont have the dark chrome or have the adjustable suspension (mine just rides like its in sport mode all the time) or the rear steering, which I could never feel on the 10 Fx50S anyway... and yes the seats are nicer but otherwise they are the same car.
2010+ they changed it so only the 50 with the S package got the paddles + the other sport stuff. (so people would shell out more money for packages)

Hum strange, I was sure that i had replied to you Jbaker!

You are right about the seating. I raised it and at least my leg is not above the seat, in the "air". It's not as perfect as sport seats, but it's better that way.

About the equipment, I have a base FX50.. so nothing special in it, except nav that is standard anyway in FX50.

But again, for 8k less, no more Infiniti Elite Warranty (4 years remaining).. Not sure about it..

For 4k lost, probably, 8k is quite high :/

Your reply does not show because the site was corrupted and the adm had to go to the backup from a few days ago. That's why your reply to Jbaker does not show up.

You did, the site went down, and all posts from 2-2 and 2-3 16 were lost, but as you can see it's back up again.
Thank you, FXr8! :good:

I knew a simple seat adjustment would help you. I drive with my bottom part tilted slightly up for the same reason you described...

I think you should just keep it. Like i said, I personally have an 09 FX50 Deluxe Touring, Premium (non tech, non sport)
In 09 however they included more things standard with the 50 like the paddle shifters for example - I do not have the nicer seats, adjustable suspension, rear steering, or dark chrome trim. later, they made some of the options only come with options you needed to buy... my car just got out of warranty and has hit 56k miles...going strong.

My grandfather has a 2010 FX50S, fully loaded. I drive it often. My suspension in comparison feels like it is always in 'sport' mode on the S. I do not feel the rear steering at all. The seats are nice but again I would not trade for the same car because of the seats. That leaves the only true differences in the tech and the dark chrome trim...

not enough of a difference to buy the same car imo.

If you want something like the paddle shifters (not sure if you have them) it is an "easy" DIY that many here have done. Otherwise, the other options are not really that much of a difference besides the original MSRP and bragging rights. The v8 alone is enough to prefer the 50 over a loaded 35 imo.
