Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club’s Fun Run Returns for 20th Year; 515 Classic Cars to Be on Display in Village

cars-thumb.jpgThe antique, classic and specialty cars should be rolling into town already, as the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club’s 20th annual Fun Run event returns to the Village this weekend. As the car club’s President Cliff Fowler tells KBHR, “Friday is a very big day, a busy but informal check-in day, and most of the cars will be in the Bartlett parking lot in the Village for public viewing. The Bartlett lot will be the hub of activity, and we’ll have vendors there on Friday and Saturday.” This year’s event, as in years past, sold out early, so there will definitely be a number of cars—about 515, in fact—available for public viewing. The cars in Fun Run will line the Village L during Saturday’s show ’n’ shine event, from 9am to 3:45pm; this viewing opportunity is always a bustling event and, in the past, has been Big Bear Lake’s biggest economy-boosting weekend event of the year. To accommodate the festivities on Saturday, which will also include the Rotary Club’s Big Bear Uncorked wine and beer tasting event at the Christmas tree lot, Village streets will be closed to traffic; as of 4:30am on August 8, no traffic other than Fun Run participants will be allowed on Pine Knot Avenue, Village Drive or Bartlett Road. Adds Fowler, “Viewing will be available from 9am Saturday until 3:45pm, when we leave on our lake cruise for Fun Run. The awards ceremony, with 75 awards for 515 cars, is Sunday morning at 9am sharp at the Bartlett lot, and Cliff says it is a must-see! This year, at the awards ceremony, we’ll have something interesting. We have raised the bar—but you’ll have to come see it to find out!” For photos from last year’s Fun Run, visit our KBHR Motor Sports page.
