'09 FX50 1st Drive Impression

just got back from a drive and playing with the new FX. I snuck a pic shhhhhh...
but my thoughts.... everything how the 1st gen G went into the 2nd gen and never looked back
the 7 speed tranny shifts crisp. the 8inch screen is huge.
DCA feels like VDC almost.... something to get used to
the rear seats are still reclinable.
I answered my question about the rear tailights--- tehy don't light up the inner lights (i.e. -- '08 Audi A8/A6 Avant style)

it's growing on me. I like it except for the chrome side vents. They should color match.
 
it has really grown on me too.

in the recent motor trend they had a review on it

FX50: 0-60 in 5.2, 1/4 mile in 13.8
FX35: 0-60 in 6.1

these things fly
 
Somethings not right on that either. There's gotta be some secret parts somewhere we can swap. Maybe itz the tranny
 
the 3.5 HR is only rated 27hp more (going by the most recent specs, 275 for the 08 FX and 303 for the 09 FX), but the HR motor is much more refined and puts down A LOT more power to the wheels. many of the Z's were putting down 20whp more than the DE engine when the HR was available, and the Z's were rated at 300 and 306 respectively.
 
I've had this beast for almost a month now and i got to say i love it.
Mine is black on black and the vents and rails really look good on it. right now i am looking to get some Nerf/bull bars for the front and maybe back. This thing is complete beast on the read. I had a g35 coupe roll up on me and gave me a little engine rev. lol thinking about it now when i hit the gas in neutral his face sank. I took him off the line and had him about a cars length behind me. i really didn't completely floor it either go figure. i find that there is a stupid insane speed burst around 28mph-60mph. the car just takes off and your just along for the ride. someone already hit me from behind and i have a little gash in the lower panel plastic. debating on getting that piece replaced or getting a bar put on instead.

Yet to ride in a 50 but you make it tempting to go test drive one.....thanks for sharing and welcome to IS.

Just took delivery of our FX 50 last week. One word WOW! It makes our old X5 feel like a bucket of bolts. This thing is as fast as my 04 M3. Cant find anything I don't like about it. The side vents are a little hard to get used to. Maybe if they were painted the same color as the car they wouldn't be so bad. :biggrin:

I'm starting to like the head lights, looks really cool/unique. The only thing i'm not liking is the rear 3/4 angle. Looks like a piece of the tail light got cut off. But other than that i love the 360 degree view monitor and all the other new features.

It probably faster than ur '04 M3 and X5 is garbage no offense. The FX goes 0-60 .1 second faster than a Mustang GT.:tup:
