Hello guys... need some help with a problem my 07 has developed

A few months ago, I stared to smell a burning smell inside the cabin. Like a rubber burning smell. I opened the hood and white smoke was emitting from the left engine side.

At first I thought it was spilled coolant, but I didn't see any coolant anywhere

I took it to my mechanic and he said there was engine oil leaking onto the manifold and it was causing this issue! I freaked because he said i could cause a fire

When he traced the leak, he saw it was coming from the oil filter, so I thought oil cooler O ring!!

Well I wine to buy it and whne he got under the vehicle, he noticed oil all around the oil pan. He did I needed to change the gasket(s) and quoted me 600 for everything

I took it to a second mechanic and he said, even before opening the hood, "it's gotta be your intake cover gasket, it ripped and it's leaking oil onto the manifold... he quoted me 750 for that

I freaked and drove it home

Anyone care to chime in?

Do any of those issues accompany with a white smoke and burining smell?

My car smoked and it sounded bad when the valve cover gaskets were going out. It would leak into the manifold and start smoking

I had the same issue. For my experience, I would say to check the o-rings of the cam sensors. Those tend to leak and drip over the manifold and cause the burning rubber smell.

Worst case scenario, the gaskets are leaking from the valve covers and oil is dripping over the manifold causing the smell.

If you get under the car, where is the highest point where you see the oil dripping from?

Best way to locate the leak is to degrease the engine fully and watch for the leak to show itself.

I've used a stop leak from Titan in the past. It doesn't stop leaks, rather it causes the old rubber seals to re-swell back to their original size and shape which stops the leaks. The stuff works, costs about $70 and is too easy to use.

Change your oil then pour the stuff in and drive. About a month later all your leaks will vanish.
